By forum software error message thing

I tried to go into a thread I'd posted in and it yelled at me

I don't understand why it says I'm in moderation

This probably won't go through so idk why I'm trying to post it cause I'm panicking now

That happened to me one time, but it was because I was trying to post in a social group that I'm not a member of. I don't know why it would do that to you if you already posted there.

Being in moderation was one suggested possibility. I would think you would be told directly if you were.

I think maybe the post was moved to an administrative area. That seems to be the most likely of all the possibilities they mentioned. I don't think it has anything to do with you.

It said I'm in moderation/forum jail/whatever they want it to get called

My brain has latched onto that bit and is blanking out the rest

Maybe if I hide for long enough I'll get let out of there

I get these sorts of notices from time-to-time. They're generic computer-generated messages that may or may not apply to you specifically. I know it feels icky when you feel like you're doing your best to do everything right & then you get something like this. But much of the time, it's nothing personal. Perhaps you might want to personal message one of the moderators of the forum you were trying to go into so as to put your mind at ease? Please take care.

Whisper, is this a pattern for you that when you get an error message, you assume you did something wrong and are therefore a bad person? If so, I think it's something you need to work on. Not everything that goes wrong is your fault (and often it's not even about you).

I think that DBT Skills book I recommended might help you with this.

I've gotten that message before and it usually means the thread has been removed. It's a generic error message. You would have been told by a human administrator/mod if you were in moderation.

It most likely means the post or thread you were replying to has been closed or deleted. I've gotten it before, it's no big deal. If you were being moderated, you would not find out about it for the first time this way. Pretty sure about that!

Does it count that forum software thing said it?

Yeah cause on one of the forums I told you about, literally every time something went wrong tech-wise, the "powers that be" blamed me for it, like when ignore broke itself "whispershadow that is your fault you broke it" or irl when my old computer (really old desktop thing) died, family was like "what did you do to it" etc

That message is received either when a user is trying to access a part of the site they don’t have access to (such as the Premier Poohbah forum before qualifying) or when they are trying to access a thread or post that has been removed.

Like other forum software messages, it makes no judgment or criticism of the member who receives it and it does not mean a member is in moderation. If you were in moderation you could not have posted this thread or responses to it without a moderator approving them, meaning there would have been a delay in posting.

So I'd also of got someone knocking on my door in real life to watch me post and read it through before letting me send it?

I don't want that to happen cause Willow's still settling in and still gets jumpy when people knock on the door

Tigger loves everyone and will claim any lap that comes anywhere near her as her bed but Willow tends to react same as Ebony did and stay back until she knows the new person

How long are people normally in moderation/forum jail/ whatever we have to call it, if they behave? I hate obsessiveness

You would know if you were in moderation because a forum moderator would contact you in PM to discuss things with you first. You, like every user here, will occasionally come across a generic, non specific error message like the one you did. This is not personalized in any way and just means, “Oops sorry we can’t fulfill your request right now.” It’s written for a whole bunch of possible causes and I’m sorry you took it personally.

If you come across this message in the future, you can PM any moderator to ask why it’s not letting you post to a specific thread any longer. The reason you will be told 9 times out of 10 is because the thread was moved or closed (again, having nothing to do with you).

Hope this helps.

There! From the Doc himself!! You are safe here, honeybunny, but I wish you didn't have such criticism padlocked in your thinking. I think someone brainwashed you into thinking that way.

I think I received a similar message once and I’ve never been in moderation. It’s a standard message
