I'm unable to add an avatar also. Do we have to have a certain number of posts, I wonder?

Hi roadartist. Welcome to Psych Central.

I think the restriction on an avatar may be till you have 5 posts. Try it now and see https://forums.psychcentral.com/prof...?do=editavatar

I wouldn't use my own pic. On other sites people have found that people are using those pics to set up fake profiles in places and begin mocking the person.

I am now using my hero - Ace Rimmer.

When can I add my own avatar?

If I uploaded this pic right, this is all I see with no option to change it even when i click on edit avatar. I cant unselect the black dot either.

If the upload didn't work (which it didn't in your case, that's why it's not showing anything), it's probably because the image was too large. You should see something like this near the upload box:

The maximum size of your custom image is 85 by 85 pixels or 488.3 KB (whichever is smaller).

Your image needs to fall within those specifications in order to upload it and use it as an avatar. In other words, it needs to be a very small image.

On an off but related note, they totally need to add a perk for people that have donated money to the site to be allowed larger photos.

I get that a bunch of people uploading large pics strains server space and whatnot which is why I say let people that have donated money or otherwise have contributed to PC in some meaningful way have that privilege.

Just my 2c

have you tried with a different browser (chrome, edge, foxfire, .. are called browsers)

sometimes when I am on a website and it wont let me add or remove check marks or dots in boxes to make my selections I change browsers and it lets me do what I want. maybe doing the same thing open another window with a different browser, log on and then try it.

I think you have to go to the bottom of the screen to load your file.

Just checked - yeah you do.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
