I copy and pasted one line from the post that contains a lot of these letters throughout the post. Can anyone tell me what they are and if they serve a purpose? It has nothing to do with the actual post I am just curious.

I see that a lot. It happens less now. Its just the way different fonts translate special characters.

It seems like it made the apostrophes into that weird A character. I noticed it too.

On your computer, you will have a language keyboard setting. Usually it's on English for users of this site. But sometimes it'll change and the characters will look different as a result. In the past mine has changed to Canadian French and some of the characters are completely different. Maybe that is what happened to this individual.

cell phones do this auto correction thing where they sometimes put in letters, numbers and symbols where they dont belong. example I may "thumb" the letter a and "T9" button is showing a green light I may end up with autumn or A with a symbol or any other combination. of letters and numbers and symbols. When ever i text or make a post using my cell phone I have to make sure Im in the right translations and my auto correct is turned off. Some members here are also on other non english countries and if they are in america they may not speak or write english very well. Sometimes members are of cultures where they are more fluent in their native languages then english. example my computer is equipped with translating software that translates my native american language into english and english into my native american language. this translating software automatically puts in special symbols and sometimes auto corrects the wrong way thinking I mean one thing or one word when I mean another. its not like the translating software has a brain and says ok she wants this not that when there are many words that mean the same thing and just adding a symbol or deleting a symbol or letter changes the whole meaning. my point is that those different letters and symbols you are seeing come from using different devices and translating that is built right in to auto correction, T9 on some devices. I have learned to re read my posts and texts before hitting send or post so that I can edit those things out when it happens. |
