Hello everyone,

for a day or two PC takes a long time to load on my laptop. And I kept getting kicked out...had to log in again many times.

As of this morning, I keep receiving the following message:
Insecure connection. Hackers may be able to access your information from this site. Click here to return to safety.

I am typing this from my phone because I wasn't sure what to do. I'm not having problems with other sites on my laptop. I'm not very tech-savvy so I don't know what exactly is triggering the insecure connection warning or what to do about it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

We are experiencing some issues we're working on to resolve. We'll update this thread when we're confident they've been resolved. Thanks for your patience.

YES, thanks for posting this because I have been having problems with PC myself. It took me all morning just to get into PC. I also just tried to post and go into advance to include some hugs and got disconnected. So nice to know it's not just me.

I had a couple earlier but no problems since. Is PC using CLoudflare? I got a brief screenshot of it checking my internet connection but only on my desktop. My laptop worked ok.

Yawl have FUN fixing your computer issues!! Have you heard the joke about why Word software is called windows? That's cause you want to thrown them out the window when they act up.

I just LOVE cracking myself up, LOLOL

Seriously, I hope yawl get the computer issues under control quick!

The forums are undergoing a distributed denial of service attack which we have successfully mitigated. We apologize for the temporary problems in accessing the site.

When the attack is finished, you will no longer come across the temporary prompt to access the site. If you access the site regularly from the same IP, you should also not see that prompt more than once.

Thanks for your patience.

I’m unable to make posts on PC in Firefox on my Mac laptop. The box where you type is grayed out.I did restart the browser, and it didn’t help. Posting this from Safari on my phone. I’m also still getting the “checking browser” warning.

ETA: Also tried logging out of and back into PC, which didn't help.

I am unable to use PC right now… Every 5 seconds, whatever PC page I am on refreshes.

This happens if I’m logged in or not. I have tried on the most up to date versions of Chrome and Safari. I have turned off all content blockers.

I also cannot get into PC, although I managed to bypass into chat. I'm posting this here from Tapatalk.

What happens is the page loads and there is a weird banner that says it will redirect then ot reloads to a failed load page.

Yes, unfortunately, the mitigation tool was breaking some of our automated scripts that update information about new members and such. Those have been fixed and the constant updating of the forum pages should be fixed now.

The checking browser box is coming up again frequently like it did before it latched on last time.

I am also having this occur still, but it's not cycling yet. Just seems to do the checking thing then let me post.

I’m still having problems posting anything at all. On my laptop it redirects me to that cloud ware thing and my posts get lost. I got the same redirect notice on my phone too so I’m not sure this post will show up. I logged out and back in but it doesn’t seem to be working.

Yes, we kept the protection service active overnight, since even I need some sleep once in awhile...

The service has been scaled back as the attack appears to be over. We'll be keeping a close eye on things.

Like most companies operating large public websites, Psych Central is the target of these kinds of attacks on a regular basis. This attack came from China, which accounted for more traffic than any other country yesterday (usually our China-based traffic is minuscule).

We are setup to deal with such attacks, but they do impact the services we offer sometimes. This is the world we live in, unfortunately, and people who run these attacks (which involve a command-and-control structure of directing thousands of individual computers to try and access our site all at once, in order to deny access to legitimate users) don't really care about laws or the potential harm they cause.

There's nothing to worry about on your end -- these attacks are directed at one of our servers only and only are meant to deny service to you. But we're equipped to handle them, and they are part and parcel of running sites like this.

I couldn't get in through Tapatalk yesterday but at least could see others were having issues with the site as well. There is a highlights page on Tapatalk and this thread was at the top of that.

Poor chat is having the slows again this morning. It starts from the log in and every step takes a long time to process. when you do get to chat you have long wait times to post, at least 30 seconds after you hit enter.
sorry for the bad news!
thanks , tams

Still can't make posts on Firefox (again tried clearing cookies, logging out and back in, etc.). Can post in Safari, but it's very slow.
