Here's a temporary chatroom while we work on a longer-term solution.
https://psychcentralforums.com/chat.php Please do not complain about this temporary chatroom, because it is only just temporary. It does not have a lot of features we're used to having while in chat (such as ignore). We will reinstate chat moderators as they join this room. I'll update this thread with any updates on progress as we make it. As is always the case with finding new software, we need to find a reliable, affordable service that's fairly easy to integrate within our forum software. There are literally dozens of different chat solutions available, so this process takes time to evaluate which ones are possible candidates for further testing.

Every time I try to use it, it keeps saying it can't recognize my username and to contact an administrator. I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong.

Too bad it's temp. Good points, it has no topic, all people in one room, meaning topics mixed. The old chat rooms people were only in social chat if you wanted to talk about something a bit more serious = you were on your own. No PM = no excluding people.

It seems like people who haven't had 5 posts approved are able to enter chat.
