Being on ignore means that person cannot contribute to your threads. If they're not allowed to contribute to your thread because they're on ignore, why is it that they are still allowed to use the thanks and hugs buttons to posts on your threads when they’re on ignore? I find it to be very bothersome when this happens.
Dear Admins, is there a way that this can be changed in the system, please? __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes Last edited by Have Hope; Mar 03, 2020 at 07:57 PM.. |

This is a known issue but there's nothing we can do to fix it at this time. It's because both the enhanced ignore functionality we've implemented here is a plugin and so is the thanks options, and they don't interact with one another.
While it's possible this could change in the future, our engineering resources are limited. Thanks for the suggestion, though. __________________ Don't throw away your shot. |

@DocJohn, if a person on ignore does this, can it be reported and will it be addressed with the individual by mods? I don't think this kind of behavior is conducive to a peaceful forum... it's antagonizing to the OP. Thanks in advance for your reply.

when you put someone on ignore the ignored person does not receive a notification that they are on your ignore list. to them they are just reading posts and threads and clicking thanks and hugs to let people know they have read the post/ thread and sometimes because they care about the poster. like in real life we cant control who likes us who tells us thank you and in some cultures cant control who gives us hugs. we just have to learn ways with in ourselves to take care of our triggers. in real life I accept everyone using common manners by telling me thank you. and in real life when someone tries to give me a hug I extend my hand for a handshake or I take a step back online I follow the same principals I accept all thanks, and I place in my signature line no hugs please when I am having my own sensitivities to hugs. maybe that will work for you, place a notation in your signature that you do not want any thanks or hugs. this notation in your signature will appear in every one of your posts and so everyone on psych central can see right away not to give you hugs or thanks. you wont be able to limit the notation to only those on your ignore list because we are not supposed to tell others who are on our ignore list. the ignore list is for you to be able to take care of your own triggers not punish other members or prevent other members from fully using the site. but you can use your signature line to say you don't accept thanks and hugs in a non discriminatory way. |

Thank you for your thoughts and advice. I'm talking about different circumstances though, and not "thanks" or "hugs" that are given to me.
While the person may not know right away that they're on ignore, they do know after they've tried to post to that person's thread. And in the case they know they are on ignore and thank others on the thread? I just want posters who are on ignore to not have the ability to thank others, not me specifically, for their posts on threads when there's a purpose to the ignore button and when they're not allowed to post on a thread because of that ignore function. __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes Last edited by Have Hope; Mar 04, 2020 at 08:26 PM.. |

but not everyone clicks to make a post before they click thanks and hugs. example when I am reading posts I see one that I can relate to or think is a great post I do not think "ok before I click thanks or hugs I better try and make a post to see if this person has me on ignore" when I am reading posts and threads I see one I can relate to or one that I like I just click thanks and hugs. my point is most people do not try and make a post before they click thanks and hugs. usually its the other way around. people click thanks and hugs then make a post after. maybe you can also do something else that I do. when I know Im feeling sensitive and will not like something I am seeing or reading here I don't pick that time to come on psych central. I make sure that when I come to psych central Im in a place where I feel ok with what I may see including at the bootom of my posts that someone I have on ignore has thanked or hugged me. bottom line like doc john says the two programs don't work together I take that to mean I need to make sure I am in an ok place before reading posts if thanks and hugs are bothering me that day. |

Thanks so much, and I do get it. I understand that people may thank without knowing they’re on ignore. I’m speaking specifically of times when people may know they’re on ignore, but they thank a person for a post on the OP’s thread anyways. This is antagonistic behavior. That is the scenario. I’m speaking of.
I may need to send a PM to admin directly about this. __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes |

I understand the frustration, it is just a technical issue that right now isn’t something that can be changed/fixed.
Maybe use this as a test in reinforcing your ability to at times be a duck and let things roll off. Much like we have to do with people we must interact with at work or wherever in real life. Or take the person off ignore, send them a PM asking them to just please stop interacting with you at all in a calm manner.. hopefully that person will respect your wishes and just put them back on ignore. __________________ Helping others gets me out of my own head ~ |

I still want to know if it's reportable though. __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes |

It is not reportable because it doesn't violate a community guideline.
I know people want absolute protection from ANY interaction with people they ignore, but that's just not possible at this time. __________________ Don't throw away your shot. |
