Hey docJohn
I don’t usually pay much attention to the ads on this site but one caught my attention. It was for some new bottle of spirits at the lcbo..do you have any control over what kind of ads appear on the site? With many here struggling with substance abuse I wonder if such ads are appropriate. |

If you change the forum skin / theme in "edit options" you won't see ads at all.

Sorry about that. We will work to get alcohol ads removed from the site.

There were not supposed to be any alcohol ads on the site; this one slipped through because of the advertiser. It should be taken care of today.
Also, if you need to report future ads (we had a report of knife sales), please take a screenshot of the ad and either post it or send it to me via PM and we'll take care of it. The screenshot helps us identify the specific advertiser that needs to be blocked. Thanks! __________________ Don't throw away your shot. |

Saw one for weight loss as I was signing in..
Advertising is damaging to everyone, the tactics they use include shame and guilt. I truly dislike commercials. |

Is there a way to make ads smaller? The ones for Expedia are HUGE and cover about a third of the screen on my phone. None of the other ads are this big.

Thanks Doc John. I understand the reason for the ads. I don't mind. It's just the size of the Expedia ad.

I wonder how much it would cost to go adless, maybe it’s not enough of an issue to even have this conversation though.
Only a few members have voiced concern. |

I think publicly users would enthusiastically say they would pay for the site. But then things happen people move on people forget and then what will the site be then? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk __________________ "I carried a watermelon?" President of the no F's given society. |

While it's nice to think our members would support the site with monthly monetary commitments, I don't feel comfortable with that as a business model.
Online ads, on the other hand, are something I know well and feel they don't ask a whole lot of individual members -- and especially nothing monetary. Most of our members simply aren't in a place where they could make such donations. But thank you for the suggestion. __________________ Don't throw away your shot. |

Doc John, anything new about the size of ads? The Expedia ads are getting really annoying.

All you have to do is change your Theme (in Edit options I believe) and you wont see any Ad's at all
