I recently stumbled on a couple of posts by members whose accounts were indicated to be suspended. I tried to find something on this in the FAQ but could not. My recollection is that, at one time at least, a member could request their account be suspended rather than to have it closed / deleted entirely. That way the member's account remained intact even though it was inactive. The member could then ask to have the account re-opened at some future date should they wish. Is this an option now and, if so, how does it work?

Hi @Skeezyks, I am open to discussing options with you in private message if you or someone you know is considering taking a break from MSF My Support Forums. Approaching a moderator or member of the Community Support Team is the best step to do a voluntary break from MSF.

A suspended account is one that is no longer active at MSF due to administrative action due to Community Guidelines.

Feel free to send a PM to me or any moderator or admin and we can offer options appropriate to the particular situation you are thinking of. @CANDC

You don't need to formally "suspend" your account, either.

If you're a member in good standing here, simply not logging in to your account is an option if you want or need to take a break from the community. We never remove old, inactive accounts.

Thanks for your replies @CANDC & @DocJohn. I'll simply do what I need to do, on my laptop, to make it more difficult for me to log in. The problem for me has been that, as long as it's easy for me to log in, I do. And more often than not lately I feel like I end up sticking my nose into threads where I feel I probably have no place. Then afterwards I regret it.

For a while I tried to content myself with replying to threads in the Games forum. But I'm not really a games person & I've grown tired of them. There is a sense as well that I'm just too old for this at this point. But, under any circumstances, I greatly appreciate your replies. Best wishes...

Skeezycks I personally always look forward to your posts.

I actually thought suspended account is a form of punishment like you aren’t allowed to post for however long. Looks like I was wrong.

I got my account temporarily suspended for a month. I just asked. It helped a lot to clear my mind. Logging out for me personally doesn’t work. I’ve tried it a couple times and I just loogged in a day later. I had to just know and trust my boundaries and know that I did actually need my account suspended.

But I appreciate your posts and you have been very supportive and helpful. But do whatever you feel comfortable doing.

Why would anyone feel too old, or too mature, or that you should’ve grown and not need this place anymore? It’s support, comradeship, knowledge, interactive, warm
Engaging and a safe distraction; especially in the scenario when a triggered member is fighting a SH issue.

I feel like it a great question to ask that everyone would know what lead to suspended.

A few members over the years have asked for our help by suspending their account for a time until they are ready to come back. It happens rarely.

Suspensions of accounts happen for many different reasons, but as with member issues, we do not discuss those reasons with others.

I hope this clears things up a bit.

I will close this thread at this time.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
