Sorry just a quick one, I done something to my messages and I don't understand what I did, cause I was seeing "what happens if I press this button" and somehow I stopped my messages from working properly, I dare not press anything else in my settings without speaking to admin first cause admin are the tech people and will know what buttons I have to press to get messages working properly again
Edit: private messages I mean Last edited by Anonymous32448; Jun 02, 2022 at 09:51 AM.. |

I'm sorry, but you're going to have to be more specific other than saying that "somehow I stopped my message from working properly." What do you mean? Do you mean you can't PM other people? Do you mean you can't read your PMs?
There's no way to completely turn off or disable private messages, hence my additional questions to you about what it is you think is not working and why you think that.... __________________ Don't throw away your shot. |

Hi, willowtigger, when I want to send a private message to someone (not just reply to theirs,) I can go to their public profile, & beneath their user name in the entrance I click where it says 'send a message.' Or if I'm reading a post of theirs, I click on their user name at the upper left corner, then click beneath, where it says 'send a private message.' Is that how you do it?

Is there any error message you see? What behavior is it doing that makes you think it's not working? __________________ Don't throw away your shot. |

it says something about cannot send message cause they not on my friends list or something, i tried to send a message to blue koi just to get what its saying for you to see, typically it didnt say anything cause i think it knows i was trying to get the message thing for a admin to see, idk .......... always the way with computers, as soon as it knows a tech person is onto it, it behaves although i know for certain its not the computer cause its a new(ish) computer i'm certain though as soon as admin have their virtual backs turned, the message will come back although i do have pm conversations in my inbox from blue koi, so that might be why, it seems to be when i start a conversation with someone i dont have a message from that it refuses to do it willowtigger broke the internets .............. |

Just typing the error doodah thing out, now that its happened again (cause stupid here doesnt know what she's doing for getting a screenshot, i would do a screenshot if i knew how to, so i dont get accused of making stuff up and wasting admin's time)
"The following errors occurred with your submission: your options are configured to accept private messages only from your contacts. Therefore, the following users will be unable to reply: (name of the member i try sending a message to). To send the message anyway, check the checkbox below in the additional options section otherwise remove these user's names from the recipients list" i not sure what it means by check the boxes? what boxes? what am i looking for in there? sorry willowtigger stupid maybe it means i got to check them for covids, but idk how to give a computer a covid test sorry this time all i was trying to do was send a joke to make noctiluca laugh cause last night we was telling jokes in chat just cause we wanted to in the main room @noctiluca: what's good king wenceslas favourite pizza? deep pan crisp and even before i forget the joke again, i just remembered it when i woke up if i save that joke for nearer christmas chances are i'll of forgot it again long before christmas |

here are the EDIT OPTIONS pertaining to messaging. You need to CHECK the 2nd option so that you can send/receive to anyone.
Or you have to "friend" them first. I have written CHECK where you need to check the box and DO NOT CHECK where you should leave it blank. I hope this helps. P.s. that joke is hilarious! Private Messaging This forum features a private messaging system, which allows members to send messages to one another privately. If you do not want to send or receive private messages, you may disable the private messaging system. CHECK Enable Private Messaging You may limit the receipt of private messages to just moderators and your contacts. Other members who attempt to send messages to you will be told that you have disabled private messaging. DO NOT CHECK Receive Private Messages only from Contacts and Moderators The forum can send a message to your email address to inform you when someone sends you a private message. I DO NOT CHECK Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages If you are browsing the forums when you receive a new private message, the system can pop-up a notification box informing you of the new message. I DO CHECK Show New Private Message Notification Pop-up Visitor Messaging This forum features a visitor messaging system that allows members to send messages to one another publicly. If you do not want to receive visitor messages, you may disable the visitor messaging system. CHECK Enable Visitor Messaging You may limit the usage of your visitor messages to just moderators and your contacts. DO NOT CHECK Limit usage of Visitor Messages to Contacts and Moderators |

Since you seem confused about what option you had changed in your settings here on the forum that resulted in your not being able to send PMs to people not on your contacts list, we edited your options for you to fix this issue. It's probably a good idea to not change your options in the future without making a note of it somewhere what you've changed, so you can go back and change it back if it's causing you problems in the future.
I've attached a screenshot so you can see where this option was. We've unchecked the box for you, so you should now be all set. https://mysupportforums.org/attachme...1&d=1654259250 __________________ Don't throw away your shot. |
