See my reply #6. Sorry, we can't do it because trigger isn't a single code, it needs a closing code to work properly. Thank you for the suggestion, though.

I am sorry, DocJohn, but as far as I can see, the MENTION-mechanic has (bb-code wise) the same requirement, and was integrated into the editor UI. I mean, is it different to generate two corresponding [MENTION] tags or two corresponding [TRIGGER] (I did, for readability sake, skip the corresponding closing tags), I wonder. I am sorry, if I, as a mere regular forum member might be crossing a line by challenging you. |

This has been added as per the request. It is available only in the advanced (full) editor, not the quick edit reply box.
Example:
Possible trigger:

You were already using this thread for testing the trigger code, so there was no need for a second thread. The duplicate thread was removed.

It took me awhile to get the hang of the trigger code. The trick is no spaces between the beginning of the code, the text, and the end of the code. When you type the text, you can type as much as you want! Emojis too, paragraph breaks as well.
It's the same for any code, like for boldface. That would be an upper case B I think. bold For that, I used "[ B ]" as the code for boldface. And "[ /B] " to indicate the end of the coding or boldface. I added quotes and additional spaces so it will appear to you. The red button is an icon to use for your post, like all the others such as smiley, question mark, poll icon, light bulb, etc. It's kind of a preview I think, to give people a heads up on the "tone" of the post before they read it. That's how I use it anyway, like if something makes me mad, I choose the red angry frowny. Some site use a different symbol for their codes, like < instead of [. Goodreads does this and I get it mixed up with this site so avoid trying to format anything on there. For Tapatalk, FYI,, there's no button for specific codes, just "code" itself. Then you have to type the right code, like b for boldface. (I think it's lower case on there) I pick that code button first, then type the text in the middle. After that I fill in the code. No preview option though, so I've typed some weird looking stuff, LOL. __________________ Call me "owl" for short! Hmmm....looks like some good tips in here. "Okay, enough photos. Willow, thanks for the suggestion! I forgot to say that. It WAS cumbersome to type out "trigger" for the front and back codes, not even using a "t" like one uses a "b" for boldface.
I didn't notice the new trigger button in the tool bar until I came back here to check, when I remembered some members saying "red button". Also I wondered if anyone meant the "report" button which is an exclamation point bordered by a red triangle..... __________________ Call me "owl" for short! Willowtigger, you are not dumb and you didn't break anything hon.
Tech devices are very particular. If we don't tell them what we want in the format they want they willfully don't do what we want. Can't tell you the number of times I've yelled at my computer "No, do want I wanted not what I told you to do!" |
