I mean, one thread I made in there I understand if it was decided to get rid of the one about the forum computer in chat bot, I'm just confused over downs thread going cause as far as I know she's a person, and also I understand the kudos section to be used for cheering people on, maybe I got it wrong idk?

I don't think it's there to be for insults?

This thread from April 2022? It's still there:

Happy downandlonely day

Every forum has a default view of how many of old posts it shows. For many forums it's a year, but for Kudos, it's only 2 months because that has traditionally been a busy, active forum with a lot of posts.

Remember, too, you can search only in specific forums. I clicked on "Search this forum" then typed in "downandlonely" and it popped right up as a result.

Glad I could be of assistance with understanding how forum views work, and how to use the "search this forum" functionality.

I had a forum disappear that I have selected to have visible and not "hidden". A bit off topic but same thing: Disappeared for some reason.

I went back and reset the exclusions, then had to go and select the forums I want all over again. A pain, but it reappeared. Just FYI in case that happens to you.

For a forum, you can not only view from a year ago but from the "beginning". That will bring up ALL threads, going back years possibly!

Yes, indeed you can!

The reason this is not the default view is because the more threads we show as a default, the more server resources it takes up to run that very large query (because we have posts going back to our very beginning in 2001, meaning over 21 years of posts!). So we do set a default limit a bit on the low side, to conserve server resources.

Question: does it affect the server when we as members tell the computer to show more threads than the default? sorry willowtigger getting confused

No, I was just explaining why the default is the way it is. You're welcomed to use the community and all its tools and options in any way you'd like.
