1. I have a member on ignore. Why am I still able to see the threads that member posts? I don't care to see them.
2. Are there rules as far as the appropriate content of PM's? If so, where might I find them? Thank you to whoever provides info on my questions. __________________ |

(2) If you feel a PM is inappropriate you should report it to a moderator. Or block the member. Or both. Hope that helps. __________________ What if I fall? Oh, my dear, but what if you fly? Thank you very much @seesaw.
I know what you're referring to (the "spoiler alert"). I see that if the member posts on a thread. That's no problem, I just scroll past. What I'm referring to is when I have a member on ignore, they start a post - so they are the OP - and I can read that entire post. If the OP is a person on my ignore list I don't read the post. I'm not even tempted to, because I've had a valid reason for choosing to put the person on my ignore list. Nevertheless, it feels awkward to be able to read a thread they've started when I've made the difficult decision to put them on ignore. What gets really confusing (and is sometimes quite a shock) is when I am on another member's ignore list, I see and read their post and it's only when I try to post a reply that I'm notified of being on the OP's ignore list. Bottom line. The ignore feature apparently works only when the person on ignore posts on a thread that has been started by another member. And, of course, we cannot reply to someone who is on ignore from either end. All in all, it seems there are a few glitches with the ignore option that I wasn't aware of until recently. With regard to my question about PM's, thank you for your information. I hope you are doing very well these days. __________________ |

Actually I put someone (two people to be precise) on ignore for the sheer reason of stopping them from PMing me. It wasn’t even anything reportable, just bizarre. Ignore feature blocks them from doing that.
But if PM is of an offensive nature or a spam, you can report it. I reported PM once by forwarding it to the moderator and they took care of business. . |

Beth, are you using tapatalk? Cuz thats not how ignore works for me. The spoiler button is there for all their posts or threads.

Thank you for your reply, divine. Your example of putting a member on ignore because they were PMing you is an excellent example of what I would do well to learn...that I am not responsible for carrying the burdens of another person, nor is it my duty to "fix" their problems for them. i.e.: it is okay for me to take care of myself by setting a boundary. __________________ |

Thanks to each of you for your informative replies. It looks like I've done all I can, as far as using the ignore feature.
I did decide to contact a mod about the inappropriate PM's. __________________ |

Beth, the ignore feature does not prevent the other person from pm'ing you. Reporting the inappropriate pms wounder be a good idea. I would also PM admin about seeing posts by a person you have on ignore. Sounds like a glitch in the system.

Thank you, liz. Your advice is excellent. I've already taken care of some of the issue, trying to figure the rest out. __________________ |

Maybe things have changed since I was told this many years ago, but a member you have on ignore is not supposed to be able to send you a message: Either a VM or PM. And they can't post in threads you started. And they can't even quote someone else in the thread and then try to post in it.
Their posts would not visible to you in threads OTHERS started, but if someone QUOTES them, the post will be visible since the blocked member isn't the original poster in that case. On Tapatalk, they are harder to ignore as depending on the screen, you might be able to still see their posts. And the word "spoiler" is used instead, which I think is weird, instead of "hidden". An ignored member can still thank or hug you, as far as I know. It has its flaws, that's for sure. It should be ALL ENCOMPASSING in my opinion, meaning you don't see them AT ALL. Threads, quotes, posts, messages, etc. __________________ Call me "owl" for short! Hmmm....looks like some good tips in here. "Okay, enough photos. For it to be all encompassing, every post in every list (or forum) would have to be checked against every member. It would be like the worlds biggest computer chess game.
