just wondering

mine is currently empty, I don't understand people who fill their ignored list up and then complain when they don't get a lot of responses - cause anyone who would respond to them is blocked from responding

but i'm just wondering whether the ignored list can ever be full to the point that nobody else can get added onto it

I would say no. Picture it not as a list on a single piece of paper where you run out of room, but as a stack of shoeboxes. You can just keep piling on shoebox after shoebox...

Even with a shoebox, eventually you'll run out of room to stack them i think ?

Think of it this way: anyone who would want to put you on an ignore list is not someone you want to be around, even virtually, anyhow. I know you are rejection sensitive, so try to remind yourself that you don't have to be liked by everyone. You still have value and worth.

Also remember that people use the ignore function for various reasons. It isn’t always about them rejecting you. It might be that they are perhaps protecting themselves from being triggered by something. It can simply be a matter of self-care on their part. It doesn’t mean you’ve done anything wrong.

Last time I saw the message, from what I remember, it was accusing, like "YOU are being ignored so YOU are a bad person" etc etc, it doesnt sit right with me when a sentence starts with YOU cause tbh it sounds accusing, idk if i'm over reacting over sentences starting with "you"

Cause I can't see the difference between accusing and non-accusing when it begins with YOU

for example:

"YOU are a mad axe murderer" reads no different to me than "YOU are being ignored by this person" cause it starts with you so its basically accusing me

i think thats stems back from a family member yelling at me saying "your a hoe" after i got sexually abused by a driving instructor, and instead of being like "he is responsible for his actions" even the family who wasnt there was like "maybe you'll feel better if you have a female instructor" which again, even now it feels like that abuse was getting put on me as being my fault

And when I say hoe, I don't mean the spade's friend in the garden shed

This was a good question. Because it showed how you could run out of space on a piece of paper if you tried to list them, but you dont run out of screens on the forum member list, they just increase in number.

I dont put people on ignore because i sometimes start common threads, like The Couch in the psychotherapy forum, or in the technical forum when something weird happens like this past weekend when we experienced a whiteout!

I agree, it feels bad to see the message that you cannot reply to this thread because you are on this users ignore list (not that i have it memorized or anything!). But i guess i need a muzzle, is what it boils down to!

i think the exceptions would be the admin i dont think admin can get put on the ignored list

idk about moderators, idk what would happen if someone who was on someone elses ignored got put as moderator, whether the forum would crash or what would happen

cause the forum would get confused and switch itself off

idk i'm probably not making sense

Yeah my mom was worried about getting on the computer because she was afraid she would do something like that and it would cause the whole internet to crash.

Truth is, you have to try really really hard to break the internet. And thats not enough really's! Usually if you think you broke something, its only on your own device and you just have to clear your cookies!

You got me laughing about someone putting bunch of people on ignore lists and then complain that no one responds on their threads 🤣🤣🤣

Ignore feature is very useful but if someone wants to put the entire forum on ignore, they won’t see anything, it will be a blank page, you can’t see posts from people on your ignore list. That would be funny 😆

I feel badly, too, if someone puts me on ignore. It’s happened a few times. Usually I know why…because I said something they didn’t like. I did internalize it, feeling badly that they didn’t like me. But also, I self reflected on that I said something to them that was wrong, obnoxious, triggering. There was a time or two when I had no idea what I had done. I did internalize it feeling badly that they just didn’t like me for some reason. But, as bad as that feels, I suppose that is okay. Not everyone has to like me. I can try to be more kind so not to get put on ignore (online and irl).

Thanks for being brave in bringing up the emotions around this, felineangel.
