So...what does it mean when it states that a thread has been 'moved'?

Sometimes the admins will move a thread to what they believe is a more fitting section - like maybe women only, or relationships, or whatever.

Hi U! I wonder why don't they say where it was moved? Would be good to know where they wind up should a follow-up post be required. For example a reply to a comment/question. I figure it's good to keep track of posts...particularly ones where serious matters are touched on.

Feel free to chime in monitors. Would like to know where my post went. I save certain things I write to my own files and I didn't get the chance before *poof* it basically goes missing. Can maybe mgmt tell me where it wound up?

You'd have to be more specific about what thread you're talking about in order for us to answer your question.

Threads are moved when they are posted to the not-the-best forum for the thread's topic. Since we're organized by topic here in the forums, it's important to ensure that members post their thread to the forum most appropriate for their post.

It could be still in your subscribed threads? I know anything I post automatically goes there regardless of what forum it’s in.

Good morning Doc. Random thoughts thread in General Social Chat. Originally started by Fooze. Says the thread has...moved??? Other threads are 'moved' as well. Don't understand what that means. Not much experience with the workings of social networks. Since its destination hasn't been revealed publicly how do I find where it's been put?

Regarding the most appropriate place for a topic: For a slew of reasons it can sometimes be difficult to recognize the best forum. If it happens again perhaps the moderator whose decision it is to move something can reveal its location instead of just stating 'moved'? Does the site's template have a way to do that?

Pardons if this seems onerous but I really like to keep track of/save certain things. Bits of things I write are often useful in my modest scribblings elsewhere. Important to own a voice these days. Every squeak helps. 10,000 mice = one lion right?

Ok. It exists there but says it's still where it was to begin with. [Random thoughts thread #2] Doesn't tell me where it is at the moment. I'd like to know where it is now. if it wasn't deleted outright...where IS it?

Though I now have a copy of the post, I really need to know if it's still public. I want to know where it currently sits. [for other reasons mentioned]

It's in The Coffeehouse now. If you go to the subforum it was originally posted in and click on the title link of the thread following where it says "Moved" it should bring you to the thread. At least that works for me.

I think the real problem is, The Coffeehouse has disappeared!

Its not listed (under general social chat) as a subforum, altho it THINKS it is. Like the links are there, but not the sub forum.

Right now it looks like it did before anything was moved. Dunno the machinations of all this but I'm relieved. Curious...but relieved. All ok.

Coffeehouse is now a separate sub. It’s not under “general chat” umbrella.

The Coffeehouse hasn't moved and still is a subforum of General Social. If you haven't taken the steps to hide this subforum, it should be visible to you either on the main home page or under General Social.

Oh that’s interesting because I see it completely separately now. I didn’t make any changes. It makes no difference to me but it shows up differently now

You don't have to search for moved threads. The title of the thread should appear as a link (blue font) next to the word moved. Just click the link and it will take you to the thread.

Thanks LL. Noted for next time. Wonky memory telling me it used to be like that but wonky memory also thinking this time there was no notification anywhere. Hence my query. I'll be sure to look if there's a next time. Haha...the gears between my ears at times don't quite mesh. May indeed have been my oversight.
