Whenever I try and smilies in my posts it won't let me. I can't even see a go advanced feature. It has a blue dot that I can't remove and it says no icons. And when I look down I just see the next comment someone has posted
Can someone help me with this? Oh I'm on a android phone. |

What do your posting rules say in the lower left box on your screen? It should say "smilies are on".

While we're waiting to figure out why you're not seeing smilies... what do you see when you click on this link?

Here's a screenshot of part of that page. This is only a screenshot, without any active links, so clicking on the smilies in the picture shouldn't do anything (except maybe display the picture in a new tab or window).
The page with the smilies that I linked you to may not be set up with active links, either. When I click on one of the smilies there, nothing happens for me. The "[More]" link that took me to that page contains some additional code that apparently tells the forums software what kind of editor I'm using and exactly how it should insert the smiley into my post. When I click on the "[More]" link I do get "live" smilies but I gather you don't see a "[More]" link on the device that you're using. I don't think there'd much use in sending you the full "[More]" link that I used because it's not tailored to your device and might not work right for you. I don't want to risk crashing your device. In the sample above, next to each smilie there's a code like this: :) What happens when you type one of those codes, :) for example, into a post? . |

The blue dot and where it says "no icon" - that is just to select one of the icons from that box FOR THE TITLE OF THE POST. Most people dont bother.
You put regular smilies in your text by leaving your cursor at the end of a sentence, then either typing A smilie or clicking on one in the SIDE box. |

But those are for icons for the title only. For the whole post. You did that with the yellow smilie face. Thats how that works. Now there are MORE smilies in a box to the right of the text box. Just hit one with your finger and it will appear in the text box. |

It's possible that the browser and/or the settings that you're using on your phone won't display the smilies. The most likely reason you're not seeing a "Go Advanced" option is that you're already in Advanced Mode (as I was, in the screenshot above). The "blue circle" and other stuff that you mentioned suggests that you were trying to work with the "Post Icons" instead of the smilies. I'm going to add a post icon to the title of this reply. Here's what that looks like in a screenshot: . |
