Hi,

It's great to have so many sections dedicated to various categories on this forum. Yet, there still isn't an official recognition for journals.

My feedback is to create a dedicated section for journals and allow expressivity of members in their own journals (i.e. personal political views, stories, day to day developments etc.) AS LONG AS it respects trigger rules and remains polite etc.

I think this will be a great addition to these forums and will let people find community better for their day to day (and not only) needs by connecting with one another. Note that it is NOT a replacement for chat and neither is the chat a fill in for journals. Journals are in their own category due to their structure and has their own merits (+ allows a log like structure to be followed with history by users).

I love the idea of a journal section, love it

My only concern would be that because it's an open forum, anyone could respond to said journal (with nice comments or otherwise), or even take over the thread if they wanted to.
We could, I suppose, have the forum password protected. then, each person has.. how to explain this, their own copy of the journal forum with just their thread in it

Problem solved

Thank you for the suggestion.

Because most people come to a community like ours to engage in discussions and get support from others, we never decided to add a forum for people to just write down their own thoughts to themselves. There are so many websites and apps that allow you to journal (privately and publicly) that I feel like that activity is already very well covered by others.

We have allowed members to start a single journaling thread in their primary disorder forum that could continually update and post to, but most people stop posting to these threads after a few weeks. You're welcomed to do that if you want to journal here, but of course it is all public and others may comment on your posts.

We also have a much shorter journaling option built into the DailyMood menu option that allows you to write something (privately) next to the daily mood you choose. That is all saved so you can review in the future.

Yeah, but how many online journals benefit from a community that is trauma informed?
