i have troubles logging in here sometimes. sometimes the page is SO SLOW to load. sometimes reloading helps. but i quite often find that i'm all logged in and then i do something and its like i get auto logged out. like if i navigate away from psychcentral to look something up on google. then when i come back i've been logged out. othertimes... i find myself in this halfway place... the forums say i'm logged out (so can't post) but when i click the link to go to the login page it takes me to alexandra_k's personal info. so... i can't actually login... aaargh.

Does clearing your cookies help at all? I've found that happen sometimes and clearing cookies (either through the browser or through the site under your profile) can help.

What browser do you use?

Alex,

It sounds like it's in your settings and with your cookies? Are you accepting them? If so, what are your settings set to in regards to clearing personal data (i.e. closing browser, manual, or another option).

For some reason it seems that your cookies are being cleared almost immediately making me wonder about their being accepted.

Your internet options should tell you what's going on there. I have mine set to accept cookies and not to expire (unless I manually clean up).

I don't know alot about this stuff, but it sounds as though it's in your settings.

KD

The biggest problem is when I'm stuck in that halfway land between being logged in and not being logged in. Clearing my cookies is what gets me successfully logged out such that I'm able to log in again.

I'm accepting cookies okay and retaining them ok (I think).

Does anyone else find this when they navigate away from PsychCentral and then navigate back? I wonder if it is a security thing since we don't authenticate for each individual post (and cause PM's are stored on the server)...

?

I would think if you navigate away using the window that "was" in PC that it would be the same as if you closed that window? That would automatically log you out; you're not there anymore. But if you just use another already open window (or open another one) and go do something and come back to PC's still-open window, I don't have any problems with that.

This is a shot in the dark, but make sure you have this setting right in your profile.

And do you have the 'Remember me on each visit' box checked? That should keep you signed in until you sign out when you're done.
