awwwwwwww. have you downloaded and run adaware? It's a great program and free (adaware SE). When my computer was doing the same, I did (on the advice of our computer techs at work) and it was a life-saver.
I don't see a better place this post fits, but when in doubt, don't hesitate to PM, OK? KD __________________ |

Me thinks it has something to do with that error message you got, or maybe the toolbar somehow...
Sounds like your computer is throwing a hissy fit. I saw the video, so I don't think you're lying to me or anything like that. (((((((((((((((K_J)))))))))))))))) When it rains, it pours don't it? (Great, now I've got "Raindrops keep falling on my head" stuck in my head ) __________________ |

I agree with Christina. Sounds like it could be a conflict, maybe with your ports. Have you plugged a device into your computer lately like a new mouse or anything?
Modems are usually used by Com3 and if your getting booted that could be the reason. Or, maybe it's timing it's self out. Or maybe the tool bar is causing it. Just sort of thinking out loud, have no idea really but I'll keep thinking. |

Christina....raindrops keep falling on my head?...lol...i gotta go post that soon too now. i think i may know the problem but don't got a scooby (clue) how to fix it....i've only installed 2 things recently...pc toolbar and mywebsearch toolbar. now KD just told me about ad-aware and i've just downloaded that and run it...it found 550 yukkies and there's only ONE it can't remove...mywebsearch toolbar...and i can't remove it either...it won't allow it... and my comps still doing all the same stuff even after the removal of all the yukkies...it's gotta be the mywebsearch thingy coz ad-aware says it's bad but the darned thing won't let itself be removed. oh well...i'll figure it eventually. |

Hi Orange_Blossom If you read the post above...it's a bit long...you'll see i don't think it's the pc toolbar but mywebsearch instead. and i can't remove it either coz it won't let itself be removed. |

hey again...
if that's the problem, I did some research about how you can uninstall the toolbar. http://hubpages.com/hub/mywebsearchtoolbar http://www.pchell.com/support/mywebsearch.shtml http://www.yourtechonline.com/art16_mywebsearch.php ps. I'm also going to move this post to Tech now that we're both sure that it's something Techie... and hopefully someone else can help out too! __________________ |

YAY all sorted Thanks to KD i've got rid of all the yukkies off my comp. Thanks to Christina i've got mywebsearch off my comp. And...i sorted the last bit myself. For some reason the ticker on the pc toolbar kept freezing up...and freezing my comp with it ...so i've just disabled the ticker...problem sorted. Thanks ((KD)) Thanks ((Christina)) oh and thanks to ((Orange_Blossom)) for coming in to try and help. YAY I'm a happy bunny again. |

I know I'm chiming in late with this but just as an FYI....when removing programs/tool bars that somehow are stubborn and won't let you remove them.....boot up in safe mode so that only the minimum programs are running (windows stuff) and then try removing the unwanted stuff. Many times things run in the background and won't uninstall if they are running. I've had to do that a few times myself.
Also, when d/l'ing a program you want that is bundled with other garbage....always choose to install specific components instead of the whole package (like they always want to and recommend that you do). That way....you only get what you want and the rest is not installed. sabby |

Make sure you get it all! Those sneaky-type things leave files behind.
How Do I Remove My Web Search? First, uninstall the My Web Search option from Add/Remove Programs 1) Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel 2) Double click on Add/Remove Programs 3) Find "My Web Search" in the list of installed programs and click on Change/Remove to uninstall it. You may also want to uninstall any of the following items associated with FunWebProducts. My Web Search (Smiley Central or FWP product as applicable) My Way Speedbar (Smiley Central or other FWP as applicable) My Way Speedbar (AOL and Yahoo Messengers) (beta users only) My Way Speedbar (Outlook, Outlook Express, and IncrediMail) Search Assistant - My Way 4) Reboot your Computer 5) Next, open My Computer, Drive C, and double-click on the Program Files folder 6) Right-click and delete the folders for: FunWebProduct MyWebSearch 7) MyWebSearch should now be completely uninstalled from your computer. 8) There will be some minor registry entries left behind by the uninstall, however these can be cleaned up by running SpyBot Search and Destroy or Ad-Aware SE or left alone. |
