has interfered with another chatroom that I go to.
Since I downloaded the latest version to be able to chat here, the window at other place is bad. for instance, I can only enter using Java (not java lite) and the window has no options to show users, colors, change room, etc. how can i chat efficiently at both places? any help is greatly appreciated. i realize this issue has been discussed here before, but that was before my time and I can't find the post. thanks in advance, kd

KIMMY: Before you go to the other chat room, pop up your systray (you know...ctrl-alt-delete) and REMOVE Java from the systray. That should work.

thank you so much for your help. i finally figured out what was wrong. it wasn't the new java software. i can't believe it, but it was because my pop-up blocker wasn't allowing a pop-up through! it wouldn't load java until i let them show me their ad! nuts!
anyhow, it's fixed. i finally realized what was happening because i had my sound on and realized every time a popup was being blocked. i thought, what the heck. it worked! all this time and it was that! thanks so much, kd

Kimmydawn, to do a full search... click on Search up top, in the search line put JAVA, change the time line to 1 Year, and change the number of lines to like 50 or so. You will find plenty of posts regarding java problems. Here is one reply by Dexter, maybe it is your problem too?<font color="blue">
Making sure java is enabled and working is the best first step to try though... If you are using Windows (I'm using Windows XP and Internet Explorer 6... if you are different the steps might be a little different but should be similar) In IE go to the Tools menu and choose Internet Options On the Security tab, click the custom level button. Scroll down to "Microsoft VM" ("java Permissions") and make sure that disable jave is NOT selected. (my system is set to "high" and my chat works properly). Close that box and then go to the Advanced tab. Again scroll down to "Microsoft VM" and there are three checkboxes. The first two ("java Console" and "java Logging") don't matter (those are for programmers writing java applications). The third one is JIT Compliler for Virtual Machine. If that is checked, try unchecking it. The Microsoft website says that sometimes an incompatibility between the java on a particular web page and the Microsoft JIT compiler makes java programs not work properly, and they suggest trying to turn it off and retry the page in question. After you change the JIT setting you will have to close internet explorer and restart it. Then go back to the page (chat in this case) and see if it works. If it does it is an incompatibility between JIT and the chat java. The MS page doesn't say anything about what to do if shutting off JIT solves the problem, but I guess you can just leave JIT off as long as everything is working. Sorry I don't know enough about how java runs in IE but this is a place to start. I will see if I can find any other info on the web about it. for the record my system has JIT enabled and I don't have problems with chat but that doesn't mean it can't be effecting your situation. Crazy computers .
