umm i decided to do a blog. Named it "My Magical Room".. That is as far as I got. My plans are to do random writings, which I think is ok? Guess like a journal.

So one question is the backgrounds. Is there just one background we can use, or can we have other choices. And if there are other choices, where is the "button" to push to select backgrounds.

I guess I might have to link my blog to my profile on PC, just to remind me that I started a blog. How do you do this?

Never mind on the link. I just did it.. maybe i need to put the link under my signature on posts. hmm how do you do that. just so i don't forget. not that i forget a lot. just sometimes i do..

Hi Cap

I was looking about and under my profile I found the edit signature button. And added the link to the blog at the bottom of my signature. Surprised me that it worked. Guess that is all I figured out so far...

Doing a blog is oh so new to me. I am what some folks might call "computer stupid" as I basically push buttons and pray I pushed the right ones.

Will let you know if I find more info..

There are several backgrounds, they're called "themes" and are under "Presentation". You can switch and look, see if you like it, switch to something else, etc. until you find one that looks and feels good. Some have more advanced options so you can make your own or modify features. I like the brown background you have though, called "Stucco"?

You just have to play with it a bit... change something like the theme and then hit the view site button and then the back button to return to the control page. Once you decide on something.. it's ok if you want to change it..you always can, like seasonally

Thanks Perna for your help. umm where is the "presentation" button? I don't see a whole lot of options on the blog page to expore. No buttons to push either. Better yet, where do I go to find the options. Oh my, this is gonna be a ton of fun! Hope I don't burnout before I get it set up.

Umm I also like the brown background. Just I am curious as to what else is available.

Hi sky.. I am playing around the page, but am thinking I am looking at the "wrong" page. And I have no idea as to find the page to look for options. I think you are saying I can change the background anytime? right? like a month from now? If all else fails, I am sure I can decorate my room (in writing) to suit my fancy.

BTW what is WordPress. I guess PC's blogs automatically have WordPress. I did a search online..but maybe someone can explain it in "simple" terms. Not that what I searched was difficult to understand, just it had tons of info and I don't even know if I even need it....

aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

got that out of my system

I cannot access my blog, period. It will not take my password. I've received two and neither one worked...
awk! I am doomed to keep the great American novel stuck in my head...it's only 213 pages long, though.
all right, I'll be honest. I'm doomed to keep the un-great novel in my head--perhaps that is why my password(s) don't work?

aww you aren't doomed! Your great American novel will be written. Just a few bugs to fix and you will be up and running. So keep those fingers limber so you can type those 215 pages. Pm Doc John about your password.

You already have a plan. You are one step ahead of me. Hey, I already have a link to my blog and nothing written yet. Hope I can think of something to say.

OOOOO I found the page with all the options. Guess logging on was the key.. So I have pretty much answered all the questions I have asked so far. Boy do I feel stupid.

Oh wow. lots of backgrounds to consider. decisions.. decisions.. decisions

Oh well.. ya learn something new everyday.

Hope you get your password problem fixed soon.

if I were the type, I'd be green with jealousy

I'm just frustrated because I cannot get to it. It won't take my password...all that shows is the main page, can't log in,though
no way to write anything or pretty it up.

ok, good excuse to eat some serious chocolate
as opposed to funny chocolate

Yahoo!
My thanks to DocJohn for his help--he graciously reset my password and used lower case on my name and it now works.

I've made my very entry. It's not the best or worst, it's only a start.
'Course it will help when I read All the instructions

Glad your password problem is all fixed. Yeaaaaaaa to the Doc John for helping you. I ran over and took a peek and see that you have been busy. Look at you, two pages in such a short time.

Oh no.. there are more "instructions" to read.. Maybe the paragraph I wrote really isn't there. Just what I need.. more instructions.

Here's the task bar...options that go across the top... click on manage if you don't see all of these and just a few... (might depend upon your theme choice?)
Dashboard Write Manage Comments Blogroll Presentation Plugins Users Options

THAT presentation will give you your background choices, theme.

ok.. I think I am ok with the background on my blog. There are a lot of cool ones to pick from and yet I wish there was one with the colors I am using at Psych Central. I picked "Spring" for my forum skin. The colors are so soft and pretty. We don't always get what we want sometimes. Anyway, I like the one I picked for my blog too.. am thinking too hard here. lol

You mentioned the first entry needs to be "special". Umm special in what way, might I ask?

I guess it is clear this is my first time doing this by all my mistakes. I now have my first paragraph in two different places on the blog. I do hope we can delete or edit anytime. I tried deleting and stuff did not vanish. lol

I will go read other folk's blogs to get a better idea on how to start this in a proper way and not waste precious space.

BTW the one box one is to check when we first sign on, something about public publishing. I don't think I want my blog to be searched by google. Just the folks at PC is enough for now. How do I go back and change it..

Thanks Sky...

I'll be reading those instructions until next year...oh my, I mean that as a joke so I hope it won't happen that way!
Take my time, I guess?

RF, I liked your first post/entry/?. I like your way with words.
Mine were written out of some frustration...I usually make more sense (no matter what my friends say)

Not particularly patient Cap

thanks Cap...

I have to say, you are a great writer. When I read something and I can feel what the writer is saying, being either tears or smiles, I can say they are truly gifted with words. And you are one of those writers. Tears were streaming as I read your blog.

And yes, we all need to remember "daily" those who have served our country, and the ones who lost their lives, the wounded, and those who returned safely. God Bless our military.

((((((( cap ))))))))

BTW.. I found the delete button on my blog. Looks like I deleted half of it. Might have to delete what is left and start over. Must learn to be careful with delete buttons and not get soo excited that I've found a button to push.
