Yes, your new chat program is overly policing us. If I put two short lines one after the other quickly, it warns I will be kicked. Such as this.....

Maybe the second part, I forgot to put before I entered the first time. That's all it takes. This is hardly flooding, which I dislike very much.

Tonight I got chatty and several people were making comments I wanted to respond to. I chose to respond to these separate people on separate lines. When doing so, I saw no "warning you're going to be kicked for flooding" warning at all, and boom I was kicked. It now says my IP or user name is banned. This week has had a lot of bad mixed with good, and this is adding to the bad.

I am sure that DocJohn will see this when he comes on and will adress it properly, but I wanted you to know the ban is not permanent. It seems mostly to only last between 10 and 30 minutes at most. So you are not banned permanently sorry for the inconveinience,

Sorry to hear of your experience.

1. We've reduced the chat ban time. Being kicked from chat used to be a 60 minute ban, but it's been reduced to 30 minutes.

2. We've removed the automatic flooding ban.

I hadn't noticed the two line warning... I type quite fast and so to break up long sentences and thoughts I often type one line and enter it and then add a tag line right afterwards with no problems. hmmm

Good to hear of the changes though.

A more personal note...please don't hate the messenger when I remind members not to carry on conversations in the lobby. It has nothing to do with those doing that, and everything to do with that one member who enters in a poor state of mind and needs a moment to decide where to go, without meeting an ongoing heavy conversation.

but then there isn't anything in between social chat and support room
social - to light, support to heavy = or that's what it feels like to most often

We coul call the nontyping room Welcome. Then Lobby is for general topics.
Or we could call the nontyping room The Lobby and add a room called 'general' or general topics'.

And why is the non popup chat a popup chat... can you change that please?

That is exactly what the LOBBY is for. We didn't used to have a Lobby, so now we do. But it won 't work if we don't use it "correctly."

Maybe a few more rooms would be nice, two more support rooms for sure? But members can make as many private rooms as they like, and don't have to apply a password to them. They can have their own names, like "support lite." Then ppl will know it's not fun and games but not one on one heavy support?
As DocJohn says, all chat rooms are for support basically.

I just felt like we needed an inbetween (support and social) room and that's what lobby was always for. Or did that used to be named general at the old chatprogram? Don't remember.

Anyway. That's why I suggested the nontalking room so we can keep using lobby as an inbetween room .

I do believe we DID have a lobby before. The non-typing room sounds like a good idea to me.

I know when I go into chat, I look for an empty room to go into before I go to the private chat I am headed for....Lobby has never been one of my choices for an empty room without many people it......so I enter into some other room. I don't like going into a room with anyone in it when I am just passing through......don't like feeling rude not at least saying hi & usually not wanting to do that. It would be nice it there was an entry way that we could go through where everyone else is passing through also.

Yep, I always look for an empty room to enter the chatrooms. That way, I can sort myself out and also it feels rude to go into a room with people in it without saying hello and there usually is a bunch of people chatting in the lobby. I think it's great having everyone chatting where ever that may be but entering via an empty room feels more comfortable for me, just grateful we have these facilities!

One other thing - The New Chat Program is a Fascist... Absolutely love the title of this thread. We could say that the chat program has now had a little therapy and therefore not so authoritarian!
