When do you start considering disability as an option or last resort? Right now I'm on short term disability, applying for long term disability. Chances of returning to my job are pretty much zero right now. I want to return to work, always have, but this recovery mess is taking a lot longer than I thought it would, which adds more stress. So what point do you start working on that? I would hate to start that then things get better and I could return to work.

How long have you been in recovery now?
I am now 4,5 years in treatment. But as some things have gotten better, others haven't at all. I had to give up my original job as accountant and work now 10 hours a week as a mailman. I would have never thought that it would come to this... They were difficult steps for me, but knowing for sure now that my financial situation is sorted gives me peace and leaves more room to work on other stuff.

For about 18 mos. , I've worked off and on, but still can't cope with the stressful job. Filling out these disability papers is a real pain in the butt. It's like a book, for Long term disability, that I have paid for through my career there. If I had know it was this hard and expensive to get the approval I would have saved my money. It's the Mental Health thing though, they say stress and anxiety, depression does not qualify for LTD?
