I was under moderation for a period of time but my account is back in good standing now. Nice to be back. I posted something in the anxiety forum that was better for this forum but it was related to an anxiety article.

Kind of, more like a slow down, but it's over now.

I read it, not sure what to say yet. I'm dealing with some stuff in the survivors of abuse forum.

I think the article is good, thanks for posting.

((leomama)) remember that when you interact sometimes you can get replies that can be triggering. Sometimes comments hit me and trigger me and I may react as if someone hit me and I am saying ouch without even consciously making the choice to say ouch. It used be a lot worse, it has helped me to have it in writing so I can go back and review it.

Time outs were especially bad for me, often brought on suicidal thoughts. Then I realized what that was connected to, and that took me a long time to figure out too. That is something my older sister would do, actually goes all the way back to if you don't do things "her" way you are excluded and shunned. Unfortunately, that is taking place right now and the situation is VERY upsetting for me.

This article was helpful to me because when I crashed into a post traumatic stress break down, I was taken to the wrong place to get rest/help/grief counceling and the psychiatrist was not trained to recognize the red flags I was expressing that meant "trauma patient". Also, he was NOT culturally sensitive and lets just say he came from a culture that doesn't believe women should be upset like I was. I would come to find out I was not the only patient that suffered because of him in that psych ward. I was a trauma patient that was further traumatized, I have had to have therapy for "bad" therapy. I was basically left there, abandoned for way too long, only further traumatize and was treated by my family like I was such a bad person for struggling the way I was struggling.

Honestly, it is actually amazing I am still around because I was dangerously suicidal because of how I was treated for experiencing something that totally confused me, was so diabling and scary.

Struggling with PTSD can be incredibly "lonely", and it's not easy to find a support group for it either. I did try to find one, but all I managed to find was Psych Central.

Truth is, I needed to be able to make mistakes, and not get punished for it, but instead have others around that were kind, understanding and supportive and understood that PTSD can be very confusing and disabling. Unfortunately for me, my boundaries had been severely invaded, sadly even by so called "professionals" with letters after their names and an attitude that they were superior when in reality THEY WERE NOT. It's so validating to see it written in an article. I have been fortunate to have two therapists that have told me basically that just because someone has letters after their name, doesn't mean they are actually "qualified" to help you, do what they say they can do, be so entitled and superior and YES they can misdiagnose and be very wrong and just make things even worse.

Thank you for sharing the article. I think it does put an emphasis on finding the right type of therapist, and also doing therapy when one is able to handle unearthing the trauma.
Thanks for this!

Hi Good PC article on Trauma it didn't trigger me, it left me empty. Once again other's words don't tell my story. Perhaps when I'm done with my brief I will have a better sense of my own story.
