My T asked me this and I said yes. But now I'm not sure that was a fair description of how I think. Or that it's a negative thing. Any thoughts on over thinking?

Interesting read Overthinking: Complex PTSD - It is an injury, not an illness!

My d says I do this . It's a way to stay out of our feelings. There's a great bpd chat on Twitter that addressed this last Sunday. Although you may not have bpd it does present very similarly to bpd and you may benefit from the same treatment .

Not sure if I have a PD or not, never been told that I have one. Didn't know I had a diagnosis until I asked. What makes BPD treatment different than CPTSD treatment?

I'm saying that on the surface c-PTSD can present like bpd so being a part of the bpd community may be helpful. For example DBT was created to treat bpd.

I just not sure that people who think things through, see both sides, should be considered over thinkers and it's a MH problem. Smart strategic commanders have to do this. Business people, managers, have to do this.

Absolutely. I try to think as far ahead as I can. If life wasn't so unpredictable, I'd have thought out my whole existence down to the date, time and way I'd die.

Not sure I would go that far but I do like to thoroughly plan for travel and for emergency weather type things. I think that comes from neglect as a child and being left unprepared. Who knows, just may be who I am and it has nothing to do with anything ?

I don't know if it's due to my childhood or not but I've always tried to have control over everything. I don't like surprises and change is always difficult.

However, change will always happen so I try to predict how it'll affect me. Doesn't always work out but it makes me stronger nonetheless.

Neglect as a child is very hard. Did you come from a broken family or were they cold/distant?

Mine too. It was just my mom and I. She'd lost custody of my older brother. Do you have any siblings?

No an only child. I think they tried to have others but just couldn't get the recipe right When mom and Dad split mom got custody of me which was good I was terrified of my Dad and very angry with him. So mom had to work odd hours to support us which left me alone a lot.
Thanks for this!

Just looked it up on PC 15 Common Cognitive Distortions | Psych Central
Way to much to digest right now but I will get back to it. What brought this up?

I think it's relevant to the subject . That is CBT. I have a simpler link if you want one.

There are a couple of points that apply to me, especially memories. This list of pleasurable activities has been very triggering. Just goes to show you never know what or when it will happen.

That is why you have to be individual therapy simultaneously because you will get triggered . What's your homework this week?

I think it was to do some of those pleasurable activities, I checked off a few, haven't finished looking at it. I was suppose to go fishing but that didn't happen. Had made an appointment for a massage, but the therapist had to reschedule for next month. The class is in the morning.

Oh boy. Well you can share about how pleasurable activities is difficult for you. What about tea, a hot bath, yoga, or a fav Netflix show or YouTube channel?

I guess I would say I am an over thinker, I do think a lot. I like to think about things in depth and analyze.
Thanks for this!
