Since joining Psyc Central last month, I have spent a lot of time here, in the CPTSD forum, because that, in my opinion is my primary disorder. I also suffer from anxiety/stress (I used to think I had a real good handle on it) and depression. I think the depression is situational in nature and is often part of my natural recovery process from anxiety/stress. I also think I might have some PTSD going on related to an event with my daughter in October.

Other than my therapist using the term "stress related to long-term trauma", I have never been given an official diagnosis. I'm assuming I have one, since my therapist bills insurance, but I have never even asked. For the most part, I have self-diagnosed myself based on my symptoms and my history.

Anyway - one of the things that I have done since I joined is welcoming new members to the forum on a daily basis. I realized over the last couple days that doing this, reading some of the intro's is really impacting me and that I need to back away from doing that for now. Instead, I'm going to primarily be active here, in CPTSD, in the anxiety forum and a couple other of the general question forums.

I think that I can be of more help to others, and in return get help for myself by doing this.

Does anyone else find themselves at times overwhelmed by the forum?

Yes, I can get overwhelmed here. I used to post a lot, but now take care of myself and dip in and out, when either I feel I need to for myself, or when I feel more robust to support others.

I would continue to cite the pro's of why you need psych central. I wouldn't let anyone dominate in anyway because we live in a free society. If there is love career a way to give back then express that a little more. If indeed you have gotten overwhelmed that is normal as well for what you have CPTSD. I say take breaks to live and enjoy life in other way then come back.

Yes, I have at times felt overwhelmed by PC. Especially true when I am already feeling depressed and anxious.

Oh yes, sometimes I take a break, but then sometimes talking to people helps ease that stress also. You need to be selective in what forums you go to. Some are triggering and I know to stay out of. Not that I don't care about the people in there, just I can't for my own well being go in there. That's why I usually stay in here. If there's a post that I can't deal with I don't respond.
Main thing is take care of you

Thanks for all the feedback! I think what got me was that I really want to help people, but with everything going on in my life right now I need to pace myself.

Yes you do, even if things are not hectic you need to pace yourself. So while we greatly appreciate your company and feedback, we want you to be well and happy, which I expect is what you wish for everyone else as well
