I'm always afraid to tell my story out in public for fear of getting shot down by one of my many critics.

Inner critics or outer critics? Or both?

Lol! Outer critics. I can deal with my inner critic.

Well why do you let the outer critics bother you so much? Don't let them have that power and control.

and.......you know that's what people do, people will always be people and have their own voices to express themselves and there's nothing we can do about that. We have no control over them but they are controlling you. You are not express yourself because of them, that gives them the control. Now what you do have control over is how you let it affect you. I'm sure some of your DBT classes covered something like this, right? Your voice is just as important as anyone's so let it be heard, vent when you want to, don't let them dictate your expressions.
