I'm actually pretty excited about it and I'll be in the area of TN where it'll be 100%. I've always been fascinated by astronomy and all things universe/space. What's making you anxious?

Just some of the end of the world talk. I don't believe it, but if it is there's nothing we can do, ya know. Don't look at it. I'm in NC so it will be total here also.

Hightower? It would almost be a relief to know when the end is coming.

Hold fast, Trace. I'm leaning on the Rock. All will be well, when the day is done, whenever that happens to be. No worries. Shalom.

There is no sense in giving into the pointless fearmongering about phenomena such as this that is started by uneducated individuals.

No, the world isn't going to end. I guarantee that I will be on PC on Aug 22nd reading this thread with a smile on my face.

People who make such baseless claims that can't even be backed up by actual scientific evidence about how the world is coming to an end over eclipses or whatever else are idiots.

The 2012 crap comes to mind because of how people thought that the world was going to come to an end on Dec 21st 2012, yet look where we are now lol.

I am going to enjoy it personally. I love the night.

Look at how many religious "miracles" were actually based on scientific phenomenons like eclipses.
It's all about perspective.

This is probably true but I don't think they are uneducated people doing this. They are people who are very interested in prophecy , religious writings, studying the stars and universe. But also you have people who make a lot of money off instilling fear in people about such things. The Survival business is booming, not just because of the eclipse but because they are unsure of security from what is happening in the World. I guess it depends on the person and if they want to survive if something bad happens.

Here is a Wikipedia piece that lists end of the world and other disaster predictions through the ages:

Safe travels. Don't you have to have some kind of glasses to observe it? It's going right over me, but I will watch it on the news

My daughter and son-in-law are traveling to Portland, Oregon to witness the full eclipse. I'm not afraid that the world is going to end, but I am feeling a bit anxious about the eclipse. It's just the change, the deviation from normal. I'm afraid of the weird sensation. But any kind of change causes me to be anxious, so.....

It is a creepy thought , makes me feel so small in relation to what's happening. I'm okay if the world ends to though.

Portland will only get a slice. To witness the totality, they'll need to keep driving south until they pass below Lincoln City on the coast, Salem along Interstate 5, or Madras in the interior.

I've been studying and practising astrology for 37+ years. Everytime I've gotten an eclipse on a sensitive area of my chart, there has been a catastrophe of the "things will never be the same" type.

I hope not. Have you always been right with that prediction?
