This a really great video describing the complex nature of CPTSD. I really like how he walks through the explanation of the inner setup of it.

I don’t really agree with how he describes the transference with a therapist and the inner critic. That’s most probably because I don’t experience that myself. I also like how he emphasizes “reparenting the self” as apposed to seeing the therapist as a parent. I’m working on that.

There are a few bad words, if that triggers you. They usually do me, but I was fine listening to this.

I’ve really struggled with being “me” in session with my counselor. He talks about that too and I understand it now. It doesn’t fix it, but maybe with some understanding I can make some progress.

Thanks - not really into the TA stuff though, prefer the more neurodevelopmental/attachment models

Thank you! I’m curious what TA is. The neurodevelopmental sounds like something that I lean towards. I’m not familiar with the specific names of different modalities.

Attachment is something that I was traumatized with. It’s very easy for me to want to cling attach. I experienced that with young parts coming out early in my work with my counselor. Self parenting is something that I am wanting to learn to step me into a stronger place with attachment issues.

Transactional analysis - all the parent-adult-child analysis is TA
