I was abused for nine years (ages 2-11) by my stepfather, emotionally and sexually. I have some specific memories but have suppressed a lot of them too. Occasionally, something triggers the abused child in me and I get depressed and act defensively toward my husband (as if he is my stepdad). I am 52 and have been to several therapists and see a psychiatrist/take medication for depression w/ bipolar features. I just know that there's a lot that I don't remember and wonder if bringing more memories to the surface would be beneficial...What has helped some of you come to terms with your trauma? Thanks!
