Riding the rollercoaster with my daughter over the past 2.5 years has been taxing .. to a point where sometimes I feel as if I'm becoming depressed as well.
In caring for and attempting to advocate for her, my emotions run wild and for the mostpart I keep them to myself. I'm allowing my frustrations in dealing with the various situations to control my emotions! There are days I just want to roll up and dissappear or make the world go away .. but I fight it .. because I don't want to end up in a major clinical depression again. Hopefully by joining this site will enable me to see the issues and others dealing with them .. helping me cope with my own situations. |

Hi, coping_father, welcome to PsychCentral (PC).
Situations should not stay frustrating. If we feel frustrated we should take a step back and see what is standing in our own way (are we trying to "control" someone else and how they feel or act? Are we unclear on our own agenda, what we want and our plans to get it for ourselves? Are we too near-sighted, not seeing the whole picture (children grow up and become adults and have to learn to manage with less help from we, their parents)) and revisit our plans and priorities. If we feel "stuck", that's a chance for depression to enter, if we do not confront the problem; facing a problem is not the same as banging our heads against it ![]()
