I have a very strong interest in music, and I've always found it to be a powerful way to cope with one's emotions, or lack thereof. I don't feel much on a daily basis, unless it is produced by music, or talking with certain people, and those people are very few. I also play an instrument, which is the piano, and I find it to be very satisfying.

Do other people here feel the same way I do about music? I don't know if I would say I wouldn't be able to live without music, but it has brought me much euphoria. My favorite composer is Rachmaninoff, and I find his music to be the most emotionally stimulating.

Music can help me express what I'm feeling.
Music has been my companion since I was a wee little one.

There are certain genres that I like or dislike, but overall music doesn't have an effect on my emotions.

I find music to be really helpful. Depends on my mood which music is better. And sometimes I have to stay away from it for other reasons. I don't listen as much as I used to . I love Rachmaninoff too

Yes. I live and breathe music, and usually it's the one thing that can make me feel better, or at least feel something, when I am depressed. Playing piano and guitar and singing all help me to cope. I mostly listen to rock music though.

Yes I do! I couldn't live w/o music...especially my iPods because ALL of my favorites are on them. Music is the only thing pretty much that keeps me grounded & makes me feel safe. I mostly listen to Gospel music...songs that will help uplift & inspire me. I listen to music all day, everyday, & even while sleeping. There's only been a select few times that I've gone to bed w/o music playing. I'm listening to music right now as I type this. I Love music & I wouldn't be the same w/o it...couldn't imagine not listening to music.

Music and I have an odd relationship. Sometimes I'll listen to music and feel like I'm floating on air, and other times I'll listen to music and feel as if I'm being suffocated. It all depends on the type of music and my mood. New Age music helps calm me down and get centered for studying.

That's interesting, I'm not sure I could imagine listening to music without being effected in some way by it.

hey, Nihil - music has been my muse since i was a child. nothing calms my moods more than music. lately, early music / baroque / renaissance music calm me the most. but, i have a soft spot for singles from the 1960's. there are some great pick-me-up mood songs from that era!

I like music, but sometimes I canīt listen to it because I feel very anxious so I canīt concentrate in what I am listening. I wish I could calmly listen to jazz, for example, it is one of my favourite music genres, but I keep listening to it and remembering not very happy events of my life.
I am getting better, though, I think thatīs mean I can concentrate better and relax a little bit.
By the way, I like Rachmaninoff, the second piano concerto is my favourite.

I feel joy, tingly (okay safe) distructive rage, and love, and dark moodyness, and
giddyness. and other stuff.
I feel these only with music, otherwise I feel only
resentment, or i feel like a block of wood..not much at all.

Music is not something I listen to, even seldom, but when I
do I enjoy it.

I could not live without Henry Mancini's music. When I was a kid I wanted to grow up to be (not play, be :-) one of his double bass/cellos.

I find that music is very important to me. I listen to music every day and besides keeping me entertained it helps me express emotion, and maybe keep my imagination sharp too. Music is very strong kind of art I think.

I feel that music is a facet of the human experience that is special and wonderful.

I enjoy music these days. I listen to old favorites that bring back good or meaningful memories. I have a large body of music that I'm familiar with. Some protest songs of the 60s, guitar virtuosos, trendy 80s pop hits, rap or hip hop. I like anything that pleases my ear. Sometimes I'll listen to classical music. I'm not very knowledgable about it. The fine arts make me feel inadequete, but I enjoy them still, but from a distance. I enjoy playing a nylon stringed guitar. I can read music on a begining level, but my playing ability is about intermediate to expert. When I was young, music was magical to me. I still enjoy it, but it isn't magical anymore. It makes me sad a bit, but I loved music more when my life was kinda good. When I got older and my life became difficult, music took a secondary role in my life. Maybe music will be magical again in the future?

Music touches my heart, I love piano and dance. I listen to Lady Gaga every morning and I listen to Tori Amos weekly. Music makes me feel alive, I feel compassion and energy; certain rhythms entrance me for hours I can release my emotions into space through movement. When it plays I get lost in the lyrics and I feel revived. Nothing propels me more =}.
I like remixes, club music, newage + classic piano, alternative, and some pop.
Other favorite artists: George Winston, Jack Johnson, Robyn, and Natasha Beddingfield
