I'm on vacation in Florida, in rental "villas", there's about 30-40 of them and I just got a call from management and they're having a Tea (capital "T" because there will be clotted cream :-) for just the ladies and would I come at quarter to twelve, etc.

I was raised that way and am now of an age where this vacation place has other people my age but when you're a kid watching your mother and her friends and you're "grown up" and feeling like a kid, it's a whole different thing. My first thought is, "What do I wear???" I live in blue jeans and teeshirts. I was doing fine but that it is tea (no coffee mentioned) and I think scones and I know the clotted cream was mentioned (and I think that's like American butter, but I don't remember), I just feel like a kid again, inadequate for such and like I should wear my white gloves I don't have and a hat and why did I chew off all my fingernails. . .

Small talk. While drinking tea. Oh boy, I'm in for it now. I wonder if I'll ever feel grown up enough.

Maybe you could google a place where you could see on google maps people at such an event to scope out their clothes. Hopefully, a member could help you with fashion advice for occasion.
Thanks for this!

(((Perna))) be yourself (as you know)

's

I hate feeling like a "kid" but yet I am an "adult"-- but then again it is all about perception right?

You are a lively person here on PC, I am sure you will do well with these ladies that are on your vaca 's
