Today, while I was reading a book, I came upon this ridiculously long word. floccinaucinihilipilification This word means to estimate something as worthless. I do this a lot to myself, and I couldn't believe there was specific term for it.

However, why do I estimate myself as worthless?

I always base my self-worth on what I accomplish. I haven't accomplished much in my life. In fact, I have failed numerous times. How does failure strengthen me? I feel like it is destroying me.

Hello Chrysalis12! Welcome to PsychCentral!

Your self, you say, has been minimized into a feeling of worthlessness from failures. These failures help you in that you study them. Perhaps with familiarity with what went wrong, it helps to eliminates choices that causes failures. This would give you a choice that's successful.Take what you like, leave the rest behind.
