I was on my way home when a group of Romanian gypsies women were arguing with 2 Irish ladies 1 was in her 60s and the other was 17 or 18 (to be honest they looked doughy too) didn't wanted to get involved but unfortunately I had to stop on traffic light (I was on bicycle) and they were right next to me so I asked all the ladies to calm down and leave instead the Romanian ladies started hitting the young girl and her grand ma, they were so violent and I as a man here was worried that if I will try to stop them physically I will get in trouble with law (law is funny here in Britain) eventually on my yelling the Romanian ladies speared the young girl and her mom but the girl was bleeding from her forehead I offered them that I can call the police however the girl was hesitant but another witness called police, surprisingly police came very quickly but again the girl refused to press charges her grand ma was trying to explain that they have to see them everyday and they will hurt her that's why she is terrified and don't want to press charges. Police said they can't do anything because the victim is refusing to cooperate.

Now I am being silly here or whatever this is bugging me again and again

Oh, you are definatly NOT being silly. I've seen people get beat up a couple different times---and both times, I was pretty "nerve wrenched" for a few days. And it's hard to know what to do in a situation like that; because you want to help, but sometimes there's nothing you can do. Even if there is, you can only do so much.

But no--you are not being silly--I'd be more worried if you didn't care. (P.S. I got a little emotional just reading that.)

But you did do some thing! You didn't just ride off. You stayed their and yelled at them. Your presence was enough to discourage the other women from beating them further.

Unless a child, an elderly person or an animal is in imminent danger, I will not interject myself into a fight ... I'll call the police and give them pertinent information so they can respond though.

You aren't being silly and you did nothing wrong ... Even the police hate responding to fights (especially if its domestic violence) because often the combatants turn on them.

Nevertheless, they are trained professionals and can get as much back up as is necessary to settle the situation. You and I would probably end up just being somebody else the combatants would beat up on.

I don't know about you, but I'm just not into getting beat up on.
