Hi,
I have a history of hereditary depression & adhd, I have no true friends to call to. Regardless where I went. Am considering Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT). Will this help me overall, appreciate if someone could share their experiences , thank you. |

Have you talked to a Dr. about it? I think it varies from person to person. I had full series (16x) in Summer '92 and knocked me on my a-- and the lowest depression ever. (Think I got chronic fatigue in hospital and arms/legs became very heavy and hard to take shower, shave. Very fatigued. All I did was lay in my bed.) It did slow down my incredible racing thoughts by about 15% - just enough for me to realize how sick I had been going into it. Dr. ten yrs ago told me that ECT benefits bipolar persons more than unipolar depressed persons.

ECT can also cause severe long term memory loss. I have detailed my experiences with ECT on pc previously. Good luck.

My girlfriend had it and she still struggles with parts of her memories years later.
Personally it scares me. Kind regards |
