Hi, I have BPD and deal with lots of very upsetting and miserable feelings and emotions. I am currently taking Pristiq, Latuda, & Topamax. Does anyone have any experience with taking Klonapin for severe depression? I know that Klonapin can be addicting, that's why I am unsure about it. But, I don't like the way the Pristiq that I now take also takes away my good feelings, too. Thank you for any input :-)

I have never heard of it being prescribed for depression. it is an antianxiety drug. I have heard it being prescribed for sleep because it calms you down. and yes, it is addicting. very hard to get off of. definitely rethink this. take care.

I have been diagnosed with BPD and MDD too. I am on Lexapro. I have also taken a small dose of Klonopin at night to help with sleep during extended periods of depression (which give me serious sleep disturbances).

I have never had any problem with dependency or addiction issues on Klonopin, and I didn't need to taper off or anything. But I take a small dose (just 0.25mg or 0.5mg in the evening before bed), and I haven't taken it for longer than several months at a time. And I have never had any chemical dependency issues. Quite the opposite, I'm a big control freak.

I take 0.5mg of Klonapin before bed, as well- but regularly. If I take any more than that, I can have a problem with dependency, but I do OK with the 0.5mg every night.
