My emotions are rampant because my cat seems to have run away. I want to cry, but my medications make it hard to do so. I want him to come back home. I feel so awful. I don't understand why he would just run off.

Cats are pretty good at taking care of themselves. I hope he comes back soon.

I'm sorry he ran away and know that you are heartbroken. I hope he will return soon.

Sorry about your cat, S&B. Your cat running off had nothing to do with you. We domesticated the cat, but they've still retained part of their wild nature.
They usually return. When he does, you should take him to the vet for a check up and some testing to be sure he hasn't been infected with any diseases.
I suggest you put up LOST CAT posters around your neighborhood, on grocery bulletin boards, in vet offices and any rescue organizations. Use a color picture of your cat. Color draws a persons eye more than a black and white. Include any unusual identifying marks. If you can, offer a reward. At the bottom of the poster, add your phone number several times, vertically, and cut between each so people can easily tear a copy of your number off.
Is your cat microchipped? If he is, contact the company that the microchip is from.
I hope your little guy is home soon.
