is it strange that since i have been diagnosed with depression that i feel like it's a part of me that in some situations i don't want it to go away, in case i turn into a completely different person? like i hate hate hate having these terrifying thoughts and i hate feeling numb but if it was to go away completely, would i be me?

Oh, yes, you would be you! After all, people can and do change--and can even remake themselves. I am definitely not the person I was even, say, 15 years ago, thank goodness. But I am still me!
