Some useless Frenchman with a LH drive car managed to demolish my wing mirror though excessive speed and inattention. We stopped to exchange details.
We were blocking a gateway to a mansion and the owner came along and started hooting his horn and giving out at us. Now if he had got out of his car and said excuse me can you back up a few yards so I can enter my drive all would have been sweet. After all people have accidents and there is always a bit of delay and confusion, that's life. But he was aggressive and pushy - I don't like that. It gets brings out my bastardly side (never far from the surface). But I was seriously cross as I am trading in the car tomorrow so this Frenchman and I concluded our business quite quickly, but as parting shot I told Mr Impatient that he was a dismal fokker who should grow up. I know that was bad, but I felt good. |

I don't think it's necessarily "bad" that you reacted the way you did. That kind of thing would have grated on my nerves too. And what you said to him doesn't sound inaccurate, from the way you described his behavior.

Thanks all for your kind words. I did feel that under duress I had not adhered to the high standards I set for myself, and had I considered I might have said, 'Sorry to cause you inconvenience, you may find that a politer approach is more effective in future'. Maybe I will do better next time.
