I love to help ppl I care about and show them how much I care and love them and its like they don't really give back.

I get you should not expect it in return, just do what ya want but I just find myself horrible depressed feeling not needed or wanted.

Is this just my bipolar or is it reality?

It is a normal reaction for most of us. Just keep the expectations with in reason.

They do not give back, ok, but are they genuinely appreciative of your efforts?

I found that when I helped people out and they didn't seem to appreciate it, I was trying to buy their friendship, in a way. Trying to get them to like me by doing nice things for them. Now I try to befriend people who just like me. It's still a work in progress, but it's much nicer.

Genuine help isnt hard to give, and doesn't ask for rewards. You kind of do it automatically. I'm more reluctant to help others any more because when I did, I always gave energy that was never returned. It's draining to be there for people when they wouldn't do the same for you. It's stolen energy. However, I think the positive energy of genuine "automatic response" help and advice is rewarded because the positive vibes welcome positive vibes all around you. The universe kind of has a way of rewarding your for your good wishes..

But let me go now with this hippie ish.

I think hvert's point is that sometimes giving out so much energy portrays you as desperate, so backing off a bit and spending this energy on yourself instead of on others would be advisable.

I have this problem too. I am inclined to give and then not get. It really hurts. I need and am trying to be very careful. It justs adds to the sense of unmet needs. Oh to learn to take care of myself and not to give in to my emotionally charged bad habits of eating or whatever. That ends up being the really bad problem. What I do!

I like that "it's stolen energy", so very true when you help other's it takes away from your day to day life. Which, isn't the problem, however, when you cannot rely on that same person to be there for you, it's nothing but, stolen.
