I don't talk much, I'm sorry, I'm doing the best I can to seem approachable, but I'm so depressed most of the time, I just want to be left all alone. I've had a miserable last couple of years. Because I'm so introverted, a lot of people think I'm a mysterious person. This really affects my confidence, I don't know what to do anymore. I feel like I should just let my room mates know that I'm grateful for their friendship and I have nothing against them, and that I'm just going through a lot of problems right now.

So let them know. If you can't tell them in person, write them a card or a letter. I'm sure they'll appreciate it and you might feel better.

Hi dysphoricspirit,
"I feel like I should just let my room mates know that I'm grateful for their friendship and I have nothing against them, and that I'm just going through a lot of problems right now" Sounds like a good idea. I don't think it's as if you "should" but if you can then that might "build some bridges" between you. And do you think you could maybe tell them a bit about those problems........maybe they aren't as inapproachable as it feels like, and may be understanding. But really commend your effort in trying to/wanting to make a bit of a connection with/for them.........and while it's completely understandable that you might want to spend time on your own, with what you're going through, maybe this could gradually lead to "opening some doors" to spending more time with others too?? As depression can sometimes be so isolating, can't it?? Alison |
