I have an important business meeting today. I suspect it might go badly with the other party pulling a really nasty move. If this happens, I am afraid I won't be able to maintain my composure and I am worried I actually might cry. I'm supposed to be the calm, professional one here! "There's no crying in baseball!" (A League of Their Own).
Now, if this negotiation falls apart, I can handle that emotionally. I can go back to the 'ol drawing board and start over. That's not my fear. I am worried about how my emotions will take over during the stress of the confrontation. I will have to sit there and show no emotion. It may not be expected of me to say anything, others may do the necessary talking. So, I just need to sit there and keep calm. Ok, I can do that. Maybe something good will happen, and they won't be the dicks I am expecting them to be. |

Don't be afraid.
You probably wont cry, but even if you do so what? Crying isn't weak, it just an emotion. It can be sometimes used to get your own way, to elicit sympathy and understanding. They are the dicks not you. You can do this! |

It went well. They were great. They had the upper hand and could have taken advantage, but they didn't. Renewed faith in mankind
