Me and my husband are running into a problem and I need advice to make it better. When he gives me advice i take it too literally i don't know how to take criticism so I cry it makes him feel like a monster so then he feels he cant tell me anything to help me and he feels like a jerk and I dont want it to be this way I want him to give me advice i want him to be able to help me but I need advice on how to not be so sensitive to criticism. any ideas?

I would have no idea how to NOT be sensitive to criticism. Advice is one thing; criticism...is another. Maybe if he said.....you might want to consider doing so and so.....I found what worked for me....those are just suggestions......

Do you feel like you have to take the advice he gives or is it just offered in a respectful manner? Could you describe us a typical situation?
Usually it takes better communication on both sides. Have you read about M B Rosenberg's concept of Nonviolent Communication? That has helped me a lot |
