It has been a long day my niece came for us to spend xmas day together and it was a long day she came at 2pm and stayed until 8pm.I cooked dinner we drank wine and snowballs.I overate and now I am stuffed,I also had too many sugary treats, trifle, and chocolates and licorice allsorts.I am diabetic so I feel very ill now and I still have a virus which I haven't shaken off for months....damage limitation I gave the left over wine, box of quality street and licorice allsorts to my niece to take home so at least I can't finish off the whole lot,she can take them to the New Year's eve party that she is going to and share them out,all her friends will be there.
That is it I am fed up being ill through my own foolishness,no more forbidden sweet food,I have got to eat healthy from now on and avoid sweet stuff and junk food, take aways etc.I am a diabetic for God's sake if I want to live and not feel ill all the time I have got to eat right. And leave out sugar! I feel tired ,drowsy, thirsty all the time,my sugar tonight must be 33mmol/L that is way too high it should be 5mmol/L. I am not stopping until my sugars are consitently 5mmol/L and I lose about seven stone in weight. I want to weigh 80kg instead of 180kg. That is my new year's resolution to clean up my diet and get me healthy. My mood is very low but that is to be expected cos my sugars are so high and I feel so ill. I did enjoy my niece's company...but I feel ill now,I don't want to live if I am going to be in this much pain continuously. Please help me understand how bad it is for a type 2 diabetic to consume so much sugar. |

Well... I don't know anything about diabetes. But I do know how difficult it can be to change one's eating habits when one is alone. And I recall your niece is a very important person in your life; & she's leaving for Los Angeles soon for 6 months.
I know you're in the U.K. And I don't know what may or may not be available to you there. But I wonder if there would be any possibility of you finding some sort of diet or diabetes support group you could join. Having other people around you who are experiencing the same struggles can be a blessing. I wish you well... __________________ "I may be older but I am not wise / I'm still a child's grown-up disguise / and I never can tell you what you want to know / You will find out as you go."
