I am really struggling with christmas grattitude.

I am close to tears this morning because I didn't get what I wanted for christmas (a new sparkly dress), however- I did get a new bottle of perfume and a beautiful music box (you spin it around and it plays we wish you a merry christmas)

I'm close to crying my eyes out though because I really wanted the dress

honestly I feel like a bratty kid at the moment- give me what I want or i'm gonna pout type thing

of course I'm grateful, the music box is lovely and the perfume smells amazing, but I can't shake what I really wanted- and what's worse is that the woman who actually got me the perfume, you could tell I didn't react like she was expecting.

how to be greatful for it when your face is showing a diffrent story

hard one..

Can you buy your own dress? I’d not expect clothes for Christmas as it has to be tried on. I’d not buy people clothes unless I know them extremely
well to make sure it fits

Or could you put it on lay-away? Your other gifts do sound lovely.

shame about the fact it only plays one tune though

Tomorrow begins a couple weeks long worth of sales and discounts and clearance events. What Divine wrote about buying clothes for others makes sense.
I don't know how expressive is expressive enough for a bottle of perfume? I'm sure you reacted just fine. It is a simple thanks in my mind. I used to gift perfume to my mom and grandmom years ago.
The music box does sound lovely.

thanks for saying so.

I really hate to be the one to upset others, but I don't know what you can say. it's a glass bottle of perfume- that's all

Maybe follow up with a little thank you card to send via mail? To me, that would suffice plus it's etiquette.

At least you have people in your life that care enough about you to give you presents.

There are people out there that can't even afford a decent Christmas dinner.

I had one friend give me a present. I didn't care what it was I was just happy that somebody decided to give a damn for once and do something nice for me.

we have a charity over here called "chrisis at christmas", which helps less fortunate people with getting a dinner, a shelter, what ever they need.

the comercials for it are a bit intense, but they are so good at what they do.

I've thought many times about donating to them.

It's good places like that exist.

You know what my Christmas dinner was? Canned soup.

Haven't been able to get to the store. I was almost out of food. I don't drive and buses and stores are closed on Christmas. Was planning on going yesterday to cash in on some after Christmas sales but then the weather became crap with thunderstorms and flood advisory warnings and there was no way and hell I was going in that lol.

I just said screw it and ordered a pizza yesterday. That was my official Christmas dinner LOL

I am the opposite: I am absolutely crushed when my gifts to my loved ones don't get the response I was hoping for...and this year, I got a lot of disappointing responses.

For me, it's easy to fake the overjoyed response...but this year I got some good presents, but there were a couple that I didn't give my parents the response they wanted, too. Gift giving is so tough.

Na gift giving is easy.

Buy an Amazon gift card and be done with it.

Everybody who isn't a caveman orders from Amazon and they have everything one could want.

That's my way of handling gifts.

Or if they're a gamer I buy them Steam or Xbox gift cards but you get the idea

I hope you're doing better, raging vortex. Hopefully you'll be able to buy that dress someday. If not, maybe you can ask for the next celebration? Remember to be grateful for the gifts you received. Sending many hugs to you

Only problem is that takeout really cost me.

Ended up having to max one of my credit cards to get through the month all because I have such a difficulty with getting around due to having no car and access to poor public transportation that I always end up ordering pizza or sandwiches on impulse.

Ordered food 3x this month because weather has been crap on a lot of days and I simply don't want to ride the bus or walk to the store in 4 degree weather, thunderstorms, or ice on the roads.

I have so much gratitude it bothers people. But I am not the a-hole who goes around telling people how grateful they should be. IMO gratitude is a learned behavior, and some learn it easily and with no effort. Some have to take the hard way.
