I mentioned this in another post recently- My son and I went on a 3 day camping trip with his cub scout group (I accidentally referred to it as "boy scout" in the other post).

There were good times and bad times...

The good- it was fun to spend time with my son, and the kids were great.

The bad- some of the parents would occasionally scream at their kids- and at no one in general. One parent literally yelled at their child, "What the F are you doing?!!! I've heard you swear X times after I told you to stop!" After I mentioned that I was immune to poison ivy, one parent said, "We ought to throw you in some... just kidding." There were 2 parents that seemed pretty okay... but they are a pretty harsh group overall- I don't even like the leader much. I'm worried about them rubbing off on me and my son.

The bottom line is that some of these people scare me. And they've told me in subtle and not-so-subtle ways that if I want their respect, then I need to learn to yell like they yell.

Fortunately, my son turns 11 in a few months, and then he can join the boy scouts... It will be a different group of parents (I'm pretty sure that the scary people have children who are all younger than my son)... and there is another group that is close by that we could check out.

What a terrible experience. Some people are just nasty and have no good parenting skills

It’s good your son will be moving to a new group.

Sorry this happened
