I live just a few blocks away from where a major protest is happening in Los Angeles, where around 25,000 people gathered at one point, and it deteriorated to a police car being set on fire, and there have been sirens and helicopters all afternoon. It's making me very nervous to leave my house, but eventually I will have to walk my dogs. I should actually be taking them for a walk now, but I just heard a whole bunch more sirens. It's very nerve-wracking.

I am so sorry you are so close to all of that. I would be scared being near where people and not just doing a respectful protest but are choosing to riot and set fires. I saw clips of it on the news can’t blame you for not wanting to walk your dogs. How are things now has it calmed down today?

It's a little quieter today but they just moved the curfew up to 6pm for tonight. I was out walking the dogs when I got the alert, so we are in for the night.

This business would make me lose faith in humanity if I had any left. It's all over the country and it's ugly. It seems there are no good guys to root for.

I've seen enough bad stuff in my life that this kind of thing doesn't paralyze me with fear any more. But it angers and depresses me. No matter how much I lower my expectations, the human race finds a way to disappoint me.

Well, they moved our curfew up to 5pm. I know some people are like so what since we're on lockdown from COVID-19 anyways, but at least we could go for walks and take my dogs out, go for a run, etc. Now we can't even go outside. And the sounds of all the unrest near me are really just wearing me out emotionally.

I wish I had some advice. You know I've been through similar since last October, first the protesting, burning and looting, now COVID. We're currently under curfew + strict lockdown with the military back on the street. It's incredibly stressful and not easy to keep calm, that is for sure.

Sending hugs and thoughts your way. I am glad you have your dogs for company and support. Feel free to PM if you ever need to vent.

5 PM, wow; I agree that it is early! If I remember correctly, the most restrictive start time we had was 7 PM.

When I feel angry or sad, I try my best to keep calm and meditate by focusing on my breathing and acknowledging that I should only focus on things that I cannot control.
