I feel like the world would be a better place if people understood this concept. I feel like I've gone through this a lot and it can really mess with people's heads. People just want to feel understood and I think that's more helpful than anything else.

There is so much truth in what you say..
The human brain is so mysterious. Why does this thought pop into my head rather an any number of others. Why now instead of later or never? What is this ever flowing stream of thoughts that I did not chose to have in my head? I don't know, but it seems like animals such as dogs do not hold grudges or seek revenge for hurts they suffer. But we human beings seem to quite a bit. And why does a hurt in the past, the recent or distant pass cause us to target people who did not cause the hurt like innocent family members, friends or strangers? People seem to run on "mental autopilot" so much of the time. I tend to believe [I could be wrong] that people often "emotionally invalidate" not from a pure malice which they will with all their heart, soul, mind and strength and from the very core of their being, but often through other things as well. But whatever the reason, I guess we wouldn't be human if "emotional invalidation" didn't hurt, at least a little. If I'm honest with myself, I have to admit that people have "emotionally invalidated" me but also that sometimes I have done the same to others, sadly. I have also had "emotionally invalidating" thoughts about myself. You are so right that the world would be a better place if people understood emotional invalidation and could be more understanding. It is hard to be a humane human being. |

I agree DarkMagician, you're a good guy, I can tell.
Now, if you really want to get through this life in one piece, you need to to expect the disfavourable, the negatives of life, day in and day out. Because it's never going away. Take that on board and process it for what it is, friend. |

It seems to me a very good and right thought.
It’s a fact that human being is social and needs to create bounds. One of the most powerful bounds are like-minded people. So, all what has to do with being more open to understand the other is gonna be positive because this effort is gonna to approach the other’s mind and vice versa.
