Hi, I’m new to this forum and glad that there’s a place to socialize with others who can understand mental health struggles. Well, I feel irritated by everyone and everything. I feel like most people won’t understand what this is like for me and possibly others. Certain words trigger revolving thoughts in my mind. I find myself trying to rationalize the thoughts out of my mind to the point of distress and anxiety. Constant thoughts about past negative experiences and hurtful words spoken. I feel relief in small increments , however it is short lived only returning to the intrusive thoughts. My mood is constantly shifting and I’m currently taking 200mg of Lamotrigine. Can anyone relate?

Dear Health Warrior,

I can definitely relate even though I've never been on Lamotrigine. You write of things that I have personal experience of. And those things are really distressing!

Sincerely yours, Yao Wen

Thank you, for understanding, this helps me to know that someone can relate and I’m not alone.

So Sorry to hear about your struggles! Are you currently seeing a therapist? Sometimes therapy can be REALLY useful especially if combined with effective meds like those you are already taking. Hope they're helping at least a bit! Try to distract yourself as much as you can. Do not give up Hope! SEnding many safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @Health Warrior, your Family, your FriEnds and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, OK?!

I guess I can say that I can relate to this. I don't know if it's because I've gotten older or because the way things are going.

My job is getting on my nerves lately, even though there's not much going on there. The biggest issue I've been having lately is about deliveries that come to the place. I do shipping and receiving. The big gripe that I have is when things get delivered in the front of the building, where the guards are, instead of the rear where I am. I really hate it when the guards "paw" through the mail and packages that come that way; when I feel like it's my position to handle it first.

And then at where I live gets on my nerves, too. It's just having to hear neighbor noises that gets to me. Especially when I want to nap or sleep for the night. It's like I have to put up with them while they are of no benefit to me.

I think that the pandemic is making so many feel nerved with the changes that have occurred, and not for better.

Just a small suggestion, if you haven't tried earplugs already then it might help. I go to bed earlier than everyone else in my home and have found some great silicone ones that mould to my ear, it really helps when I need to sleep.

I think I can relate - I sometimes obsess about/replay things that happened in the past, but the replays often get more over the top. It’s always based on events where people were just arrogant or aggressive towards me with little/no provocation from me. Sometimes my mind makes up similar, but imaginary scenarios and people, too. They make me angry and upset at myself and I’m not even sure if there’s a good reason I do it. Maybe it’s trauma related, in my case? I’d just love to not do it! I do have a therapist (on holiday right now) but we haven’t really talked about this yet.
I’m easily irritated, too, more by people than things.

I'm sorry to hear of your struggles. There are definitely people here who can relate! I also wonder if you've consulted a therapist. Different sorts of therapy can be helpful.
