I'm auditioning for a talent agency tonight via zoom. I'm so excited! They messaged me, I called, they asked what day? I said today. They sent a script they're legit I looked them up. Wish me luck!

Break a leg! I auditioned for a community theatre play last week. I was only in front of the director for my one minute monologue but it was exciting to be auditioning again. I didn't get the part either, but who cares. Auditioning is fun! Hope you have a great audition tonight!

Surprisingly I made the first cut. The second cut is tomorrow and they are only taking 8 people. So nervous, 21 were left.

They have classes to teach modeling and acting to get you ready to audition as a professional. They have a payment plan it'll be tight but I'm doing it.

I hope it’s not a scam. Sadly I never heard anything good about such agencies. Stay safe

Yeah, I have the same concerns as divine. I actually knew someone that worked at an agency like that once. She gave me some insight on how they operate. Pretty much everyone passes the auditions because they want to make money from getting people to sign up for the classes. Few that go through all that end up working professionally and those that did succeed probably didn't need the classes to begin with.

You may want to give this a read:

Scams and How to Avoid Them | Acting Studio Chicago

The agency is a subsidiary of Elite and elite is just for superstars they said. They are charginging about 2k and it's not a scam. You get a renewable 1 year contract after you graduate. They have been very open and honest. I'm looking forward to the classes, and future auditions. You are not tied to just this agency you can sign with any and all if you want. They have businesses all over the world. I have reviewed them. They don't guarantee success. But they give you the tools to succeed. They cover 3 photo sessions with a professional photographer.

Read reviews from consumer reviews. And they have to lots of reviews. You get what you put into it basically.

If you are interested in getting into a scene of singing and song writing, why focus on paying so much for getting photos done? And modeling? Why modeling? If you want to get into singing I think spending money on singing voice coach would make more sense?

Do you have community theaters? You can start there by auditioning for singing parts. Many of our theaters are doing musicals. This could be a good first step

Is there any time allowed to change your mind, break a contract and get your money back? Sometimes it’s 48 hours or so. I’d call them and ask about it. It isn’t going to lead to anything. Now if you have extra 2k then it’s fine to do this kind of thing for fun. But if money is tight, I’d try to get out of it. It’s 100% a scam

Esp if they solicited you. Where did they get your name from? Why didnt you discuss this with your care worker? I hate to be discouraging, but so many of us have dealt with this same kind of issue, doing things / spending money we dont have when we are manic or depressed or just wanting somehow to change things. Throwing money at something is rarely the answer. Taking REAL action is.

They are teaching what I lack professionalism geez can't you just be happy for a person? I'm learning skills I can apply in all areas. They teach acting and modeling. Told my mom a month ago I was going to get into acting. Singers act actors sings. She was like have fun.

I solicited them I guess I had to fill out a form I don't remember doing. But I've been googling a lot of stuff cause I wanted to find open call auditions locally. There's a dinner theater nearby. I didn't find that but found this I suppose. And it will help with getting out there.

If I feel someone is a victim of a scam I'm going to say so. If you insist on going through with this, please remember this thread later, because you will be a couple of thousand poorer with nothing but some overpriced pictures to show for it.

I think people are just trying to help because, unfortunately, these agencies exist to prey on people. You say that financially it will be tight for you to do this. In that case, I would think there would be better ways to spend $2,000 - paying down debt or increasing savings. If I remember correctly, didn't you mention you fell for another scam in the past? It would be unfortunate if this happened to you again.

Dear Aviza,

How you spend your money is none of our business. If you are happy, then this is what matters. However, some people may have some insight into your situation since they may have gone through a similar situation. I would think about their advice carefully.

In the end, you can do what you want. So, you have been advised by others but still want to pursue this path, I say do as you desire but please be cautious.

You are not doing anything illegal nor hurting anybody.

Best wishes!
